Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Baltimore Ravens vs Cleveland Browns

The Baltimore Ravens collected their second straight win last Sunday versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and will now travel to First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, to face a reeling Browns team on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 pm EST.  In their Sunday night week four matchup, Baltimore went on the road to beat the Steelers by a 26-14 score to win their second straight game while the Browns suffered a 45-42 road loss in a high-scoring shootout with the Oakland Raiders as both teams covered the spread with Baltimore being three-point road underdogs while the Browns being 2.5-point road dogs.  Nonetheless, these two teams last met on December 17, 2017 as the Ravens picked up the 27-10 road win as they also cashed in as 6.5-point favorites while the under was the play with the total being set at 42.5 points for the game.

Baltimore Ravens's Latest Performance :

Baltimore outscored the Steelers on Sunday night 12-0 after a 14-14 tie at the half as Justin Tucker kicked four field goals to seal the victory in week four.  Joe Flacco threw for 363 yards and two touchdown passes in the win while the rushing attack was led by Alex Collins racked up 42 yards on 11 carries for the Ravens’ 23rd ranked rushing attack.  John Brown led the receiving corps with 116 yards and a TD pass on three catches for a Baltimore offense that won despite having a fumble along with going only one for five inside the red zone for the game.  The fifth ranked Ravens rushing defense lived up to its billing as it allowed 19 yards rushing to the Steelers while its pass defense allowed 265 yards along with a touchdown pass and an interception by Ben Roethlisberger.  They also collected one sack along with recovered a fumble in the victory while holding the Steelers to 24:57 minutes of possession time.  The good news for the Ravens is that their 2nd ranked defense in total yards allowed per game will get corner back Jimmy Smith back in the lineup for this matchup after serving a four-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy for the league.

Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :

Oakland needed overtime along with a Matthew McCrane field goal to dispose of a resilient Browns team at home last Sunday as they won 45-42 at home in week four.  The Browns defense allowed Oakland a total of 565 total yards for the game as Derek Carr pumped in 427 yards in the air along with three TD passes and two interceptions in the win while the rushing attack also flourished with 139 yards for the game as Marshawn Lynch rushed for 130 yards on 20 carries.  Cleveland’s defense lived up to its 25th rank in total yards allowed while also allowing the Raiders to convert four of seven times within the red zone during the game.  Safety Jabrill Peppers is questionable with a lower body injury for this matchup while linebacker James Burgess Jr is day to day with a leg injury for the Browns.  The Offense for the Cleveland racked up 208 total yards on the ground as Nick Chubb had 105 yards along with two scores while Carlos Hyde rushed for 82 yards and a score.  Baker Mayfield threw two interceptions yet threw for 295 yards and two touchdown passes in the loss as Rashard Higgins caught four passes for 61 yards total.  Furthermore, the Cleveland offense allowed two sacks while losing two fumbles on the day to the Raiders.  Wide receiver Antonio Calloway is day to day with a lower body injury while quarterback Tyrod Taylor has not cleared the concussion protocol and is uncertain to play versus the Ravens on Sunday.

How Baltimore Ravens & Cleveland Browns Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Cleveland is 3-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

Baltimore is 3-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Baltimore will continue their road trip on week five after beating up on the Steelers last Sunday and will face a rushing attack that averages 153 yards per game, good for 2nd in the NFL.  The Browns also average 26 points per game and will certainly find it challenging in going up against Baltimore’s defense that is giving up only 16.2 points per outing.  Mayfield played better versus the Raiders, however, with the Ravens’ 4th ranked pass defense, he may also run into problems finding Brown in which to make plays for their 24th ranked passing game that averages 213 yards per game.  In all, expect for both teams to either get back on track, or, continue their outstanding play on both sides of the ball in this division matchup.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Baltimore Ravens -2.5

My reason for the pick :

As stated, this game will come down to winning within the trenches as the strength of Cleveland’s offensive game is in their rushing attack; On the other hand, the Ravens specialize in stopping the run, altogether.  On the other hand, Mayfield has not been very consistent and with Taylor possibly out for yet another week due to concussion, the Browns may indeed struggle once again as the Ravens have locked down opponents’ passing attacks this year.  In all, look for the Ravens to perform very well once again while covering the small point spread against a Browns team that will be hungry to get to .500 on the season.  Nonetheless, the home team will indeed struggle versus a team that is looking to obtain wins to separate themselves from the rest of the division.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 46

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the under only because I expect the Ravens to lock down the offense for the Browns on the road in week five.  And while Hyde and Chubb have been the tip of the spear that spurs the Browns offense, the Ravens have been stellar at every defensive area thus far in 2018 and this trend will continue this weekend.  In all, Flacco and the offense will pound the ball on Cleveland’s 24th ranked rushing defense while taking its shots on a defensive secondary that is very shaky in allowing 278 yards per game to their opponents.  In all, look for the under to be the play as the road team will lead with their rushing attack along with their defensive front to make this a low-scoring affair versus an inconsistent Cleveland squad.

Betting trends for Baltimore Ravens:

    • BAL is 4-1-1 ATS in last 6 road games
    • BAL is 6-3 ATS in last 9 games
    • The over is 10-6 in their last 16 games

Betting trends for Cleveland Browns:

    • CLE is 2-4 ATS in last 6 home games
    • CLE is 4-7 ATS in last 11 games
    • The Under is 7-3 in last 10 home games
