Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Tennessee Titans vs Buffalo Bills

The last time the Tennessee Titans met the Buffalo Bills was on October 11, 2015 as the Bills squeaked out a 14-13 road win as they covered in a pickem game while the under was the play with the total being set at 43 points for the game.  On Sunday, the Titans will visit New Era Field in Buffalo, New York, to face a reeling Buffalo Bills squad hungry for a win at 1 pm EST on Sunday afternoon.  They Bills suffered a 22-0 road loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday as they allowed over 400 yards of total yards to the home team while having less than 150 total yards for the game.  The Titans, on the other hand, picked up the 26-23 home win over the Philadelphia Eagles in week four as they needed overtime along with a Marcus Mariota touchdown toss to Corey Davis with :05 seconds remaining in overtime in which to pick up the victory, their third win in a row.

Tennessee Titans's Latest Performance :

The Titans have suddenly found a ton of momentum after winning three straight matchups after losing in week one as Marcus Mariota showed that he wants to continue to be the man under center in throwing for 344 yards, two touchdowns, along with an interception in their close win over the Eagles at home in week four.  He also led the team in rushing with 46 yards from scrimmage along with a touchdown run in the third quarter to begin a Titans rally while tightening the lead to 17-10 in favor of Philly.  Corey Davis led the receiving corps for the Titans with 161 yards and a score as Tennessee was three for four inside the red zone while possessing the ball for 35:30 minutes in the game.  The offense would, however, allow three sacks in the contest while its 6th ranked defense in points allowed with 18.2 points per game allowed the visitors 116 rush yards with Jay Ajayi having 70 yards while Carson Wentz had 348 yards along with two TD’s in his second game back from injury.  The defense recovered a fumble in the matchup while only allowing Philadelphia to convert one of four times within the red zone for the game.  With Mariota playing solid at quarterback, the return of Blaine Gabbert from a concussion is certainly not as important, however, injuries on defense to corner back Adoree Jackson (knee) and safety Kenny Vaccaro (elbow) will certainly be important for the Titans, though Vaccaro is expected to play versus the Bills.  Also, linebacker Wesley Woodyard is day to day with a shoulder injury and his status is uncertain as well.

Buffalo Bills 's Latest Performance :

Josh Allen threw two interceptions along with 151 yards in their loss versus the Packers last Sunday while the rushing attack only racked up 58 yards in the game with LeSean McCoy having just 24 yards for the game.  The Bills allowed seven sacks in the game along with a fumble while only possessing the ball for 25:23 minutes.  Finally, with only 11 first downs for the game, the Bills have simply not been able to remain consistent through the first few games of the season.  To make matters worse, McCoy and wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin are both day to day with hand and rib injuries and may not suit up for Buffalo on Sunday.  The defense collected two sacks on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense while recovering a fumble in the matchup, however, allowed them to convert two of three times within the red zone while Rodgers threw for 298 yards in the contest.  The Bills 11th ranked rushing attack also gave up 141 yards on the ground to the Packers as Aaron Jones collected 65 yards on the night with a touchdown in the win.  Safety Micah Hyde is day to day with a groin injury and is uncertain for the Bills next matchup while corner back Phillip Gaines continues to be day to day with an elbow injury for the 17th ranked passing attack that allows 263 yards per game to their opponents.

How Tennessee Titans & Buffalo Bills Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Buffalo is 1-3 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

Tennessee is 3-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-2

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Titans have a golden opportunity to keep things rolling as they look to win their 4th straight game versus a Bills team that is looking as if they may not win another game in 2018.  Allen is beginning to get beat up in the backfield while the hits are beginning to affect his ability to focus in the pocket.  Nonetheless, Mariota is beginning to play well under center for the Titans while Davis continues to impress on a weekly basis.  Despite them being on the road, I expect Tennessee to play well in this game while the Bills, if they do not somehow become more consistent on both sides of the ball, will be in for a long and painful season.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Tennessee Titans -3.5

My reason for the pick :

As stated, the Bills are starting to really reveal not only their individual problems related to their dismal offense starting with their lack of experience at the quarterback position, but, their defense is beginning to become inconsistent in stopping both the run along with the pass as well in allowing 106 points to their opponents thus far in the season.  Look for the Titans to get their 14th ranked running game cranked up since the Bills will potentially be without key pieces within their defense for week five, while Mariota will certainly challenge the Bills secondary that allowed 263 yards per game to opponents.  In all, as the Bills continue to allow opponents to average 26.5 points per game along with McCoy and Benjamin possibly being out for this matchup, expect the average of 18.8 points per outing for the Titans to rise in this contest as I see this as a blowout.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 39

My reason for the prediction :

While 39 points are a bit low for any matchup, I will choose the under for this game in that while the Titans were on fire in their passing game versus the Eagles and while they may certainly put up some scores versus the Bills secondary, they will likely focus more on shoring up their rushing attack with Derrick Henry (163 yards) getting the bulk of the carries for the game.  The reason for this is now that they are winning, they must ensure that they become more of a multi-dimensional team in the future as teams will certainly attempt to take away their passing game in the future.  With that being said, the Titans defense will not have to do much to neutralize the offense for the Bills as they will cover the spread in this contest yet the under will remain just below its set total in the end.

Betting trends for Tennessee Titans:

    • TEN is 7-2 ATS in last 9 games
    • The Under is 7-5 in TEN’s last 12 road games

Betting trends for Buffalo Bills :

    • BUF is 6-8 ATS in last 14 games
    • The Over is 7-3 in BUF’s last 10 home games
