Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Los Angeles Rams vs Seattle Seahawks
The undefeated Los Angeles Rams will travel to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington, to battle the Seattle Seahawks in a week five NFL showdown on Sunday afternoon beginning at 4:25 pm EST. The Rams picked up a 38-31 home win over the Minnesota Vikings in their last outing as Goff continued his stellar play under center in throwing five touchdown passes while the Seahawks got 171 rushing yards for the game with Mike Davis having 101 yards along with two rushing scores in the 20-17 win last Sunday. Yet, Sebastian Janikowski would be needed to kick a last second 52 yarder to seal the victory after the Cardinals tied the game at 17 all after a Josh Rosen 22-yard touchdown pass to Chad Williams. These teams last met on December 17, 2017 as the Rams picked up the 42-7 road blowout as they went up 34-0 at the half and never looked back while covering the spread as one-point dogs while the over was the play with the total being set at 47.5 points for the game.
Los Angeles Rams's Latest Performance :
Jared Goff continued his stellar season thus far in throwing for five touchdown passes in the Rams victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday as the Rams racked up 556 total yards for the game. Cooper Kupp (9 rec, 162 yds, 2 TD’s) and Brandin Cooks (7 rec, 116 yds, TD) led the receiving corps while Todd Gurley II added 83 yards on 17 carries. The possible absence of tight end Tyler Higbee could affect the Rams passing game a bit as it is now unclear as to whether he will play in this game. The defense for the Rams allowed only 54 yards on the ground to Minnesota yet Kirk Cousins threw for 392 yards total with three touchdown tosses for the game as he has had a solid season at QB for the Vikings thus far. The 9th ranked defense in yards allowed with 336 yards per game will possibly be without Ramik Wilson as he is day to day in suffering with an undisclosed injury for the Rams.
Seattle Seahawks 's Latest Performance :
The Seahawks not only racked up 171 yards thanks to its rushing attack last Sunday, but, also got 104 yards in the return game as well. Russell Wilson and Seattle’s passing attack collected 172 yards for the game while Mike Davis led the charge in rushing with 104 yards along with two touchdowns in the win. Finally, Tyler Lockett finished with 53 yards receiving on five catches as the Seahawks offense allowed two sacks in the game. The defense for the Seahawks also collected a sack for the contest while also recovering a fumble in addition to allowing the home team to covert two of three times within the red zone. Seattle has struggled on both areas of their offense this year, however, will look to increase their production as they challenge a Rams defense that gives up only 17 points per game. And while their rushing game has been the most consistent, the Rams are ranked 5th in the league in giving up 95 yards per contest to their opponents. Center Ethan Pocic missed the last two games for the Seattle offensive front and is uncertain for this game while Chris Carson is suffering from a hip injury and is day to day yet expected to play in this matchup. On the other hand, defensive end Dion Jordan is expected to play as well despite dealing with a Hip injury.
How Los Angeles Rams & Seattle Seahawks Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Los Angeles is 3-1 ATS while the O/U is 2-2
Seattle is 1-2-1 ATS while the O/U is 1-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
Seattle will experience some problems in this matchup in that they have had issues with moving the ball consistently all season long. Furthermore, matching up with a solid defensive squad in the Rams will not do them any favors either. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see how the 5th ranked pass defense for Seattle will fare versus the Rams high-powered passing attack. Of course, with Seattle allowing only 20 points per game to their opponents, I will be curious to see the overall impact that their defense will have on an offense that is averaging 35 point per game.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Los Angeles Rams -7
My reason for the pick :
I will pick the Rams to score a win in this contest as well as cover the spread as Goff continues to impress with every outing that passes due to a consistent running game along with playmakers on the outside that possess a perfect balance between speed and physicality. In all, I expect the defense for Los Angeles to pressure Seattle and their inconsistent offense throughout the game while taking out their dismal running game in the process. This will certainly be an ugly game for the home team, particularly on offense, as the Rams will take pride in ensuring that they stuff the run early on versus Seattle while pressuring Wilson in the pocket in hopes that this relates to turnovers.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 50
My reason for the prediction :
The under seems to be a more logical pick in this contest in that while the Seahawks offense has certainly not been able to light up the scoreboard lately by any stretch, their defense has been able to keep them in games with their tough and agressive play. With that being said, while the Rams will pull out a victory in this game, I happen to feel as if Seattle’s defense will keep them into the game for around three quarters. In all, look for the under to be the strongest play amongst these NFC West teams on Sunday.
