Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago Bears vs Miami Dolphins
The suddenly stellar Chicago Bears will travel to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, to take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at 1 pm EST in week six NFL action. The Bears enter the game winners of their last three games as they picked up a 48-10 home win over the Bucs in their last outing. The Dolphins suffered a 27-17 road loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday as they became victims of an offense for the Bengals that scored 24 points in the final period en route to the win. The last time these teams met was on October 19, 2014 when the Dolphins got the 27-14 road win as they covered as three-point road dogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 47.5 points for the game.
Chicago Bears's Latest Performance :
The Bears are coming off a bye week and will look to continue their outstanding play in week six versus the Dolphins. Their offense has stepped it up in scoring 29 points in their last three wins while the defense has given up only 13 points to their opponents during this time. Mitchell Trubisky leads the team with 945 yards with eight touchdown passes along with four interceptions for the season while Allen Robinson leads the receiving corps with 217 yards and a score. Jordan Howard leads the rushing attack with 281 yards for the year with a score while Tight end Trey Burton has 176 yards along with two touchdowns, leading the team. Khalil Mack leads the team in sacks with five for the year while their defense is allowing 16,2 points per game. And while their rushing attack ranks in the top ten, the defense is the strength of this bunch as they are ranked in the top ten in every defensive category including yards allowed per game with 295 along with being first in the lead in rush yards allowed with only 64 per outing.
Miami Dolphins 's Latest Performance :
The Dolphins went up 14-0 at the half versus the Bengals last week thanks to a Ryan Tannehill touchdown pass to Kenyan Drake along with a Jakeem Grant 71 yard punt return. Nonetheless, the Bengals came to life late in the second half as Andy Dalton found Joe Mixon for an 18 yard touchdown pass while the defense exerted its dominance as Michael Johnson picked off Tannehill for a 22 yard touchdown return while Sam Hubbard returned a fumble for 19 yards for a score to seal the victory. The Dolphins racked up 119 yards on the ground with Frank Gore having 63 yards on 12 carries while Tannehill finished with 169 yards, a TD, along with two interceptions in the loss. The offense allowed three sacks in the game and three turnovers while the Dolphins ended the game with 85 yards in penalties. And while the Dolphins defense allowed the Bengals only a 25% conversion rate inside the red zone, their 20th ranked rush defense allowed 103 rushing yards on the day along with 229 yards passing from Dalton. Turnovers ruined the day for the Dolphins, however, they will now face a Bears team that is very opportunistic on the defensive end as well. The bad news for the offense is that Grant is day to day with an unspecified injury while offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil is in concussion protocol and is uncertain to play in this matchup. For the defense, Cameron Wake is day to day after being hampered by a knee injury with his status being up in the air.
How Chicago Bears & Miami Dolphins Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Chicago is 3-1 ATS while the OU is 2-2
Miami is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 2-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Dolphins could certainly use a win, however, it will not be easy versus a Bears squad that has stifled their opponents recently. And with the Dolphins ranking in the bottom half of the league in both passing and rushing categories, the Bears will look for yet another dominating performance on the road where they are 1-1 on the season with their only loss being by one point to the Green Bay Packers in week one. The Dolphins may be without some critical pieces in this matchup, so it will be interesting to see how/if their talent steps up within the offense line along with receiving corps.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Chicago Bears -3
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Bears with the points in this matchup as I simply do not think that the Dolphins will be able to crack this stout defense for the Bears that is allowing only 64 yards rushing along with 231 yards passing to their opponents. And while the Dolphins are 2-0 at home this season, they have been outscored in their last two games by a combined 65-24 score as their offense has really struggled to move the ball. Combine this with the fact that they gave up turnover after turnover in their last outing, this game could very well be over by the half.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 42.5
My reason for the prediction :
As stated, the Bears are averaging in the upper 20’s in their last three outings and will certainly look to take advantage of a Miami defense that ranks 20th in pass/rush defense for the year. Though Miami is currently allowing 23.4 points per game, I really do not expect the Bears to score many points in this matchup (unless Tannehill implodes in the backfield). Instead, they will attempt to pound the home team with their rushing attack that puts up 122 yards from scrimmage per outing. With that being the case, expect them to take huge chunks of the clock with this philosophy while the under will be the strongest play for this game on Sunday.
Betting trends for Chicago Bears:
- Under is 4-0 in Bears last 4 games following a straight up win of more than 14 points.
- Under is 6-0 in Bears last 6 games following an ATS win.
- Under is 6-1 in Bears last 7 road games.
Betting trends for Miami Dolphins :
- Dolphins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.
- Dolphins are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Over is 6-2 in Dolphins last 8 home games.
