Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Kansas City Chiefs vs New England Patriots

The undefeated Kansas City Chiefs will pay a visit to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday night at 8:20 pm in primetime week six NFL action.  The Chiefs proved themselves worthy of their undefeated record by beating up on the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday by a 30-14 score despite being outgained 402-298 while the Patriots picked up the 38-24 home win over the lifeless Indianapolis Colts in week five as they took a 24-3 lead into the half and never looked back.  The over has been the play in the last three meetings versus these two squads as both teams would win outright along with cover the spread in the last two outings.  In their last head to head on September 7, 2017, the Chiefs took the 42-27 win as they covered as eight-point underdogs in the matchup while the total of 47.5 was surpassed.

Kansas City Chiefs's Latest Performance :

The Chiefs were impressive once again versus a Jacksonville team that simply could not handle the pressure that the home team installed on them in their 31-17 loss last Sunday.  Blake Bortles threw for a touchdown while also running for a score in the loss, however, was sacked five times while throwing four picks.  The Jags also fumbled the ball once in the contest while the Chiefs normally shaky defensive unit allowed them to convert only once on five attempts inside the red zone.  Defensive lineman Chris Jones picked off Blake Bortles and ran for 20 yards for a touchdown in the contest, giving the home team a huge lift.  The offense for Kansas City racked up 126 yards on the ground with Kareem Hunt having 87 yards and a score, however, Mahomes put on a show in throwing for 313 yards, yet, would have two interceptions in the game.  Travis Kelce and Sammy Watkins led the receiving corps with a combined 11 catches for 178 yards as the offense despite obtaining over 100 yards in penalties for the game, was able to pull out a huge victory.

New England Patriots 's Latest Performance :

The Patriots would not have much trouble disposing of the Indianapolis Colts last Thursday as they got two touchdown passes from Tom Brady who also had a rushing TD as the home team went up big at the half.  After a scoreless third for the Patriots, Brady, who threw for 342 yards, three TD’s along with two interceptions in the game, connected with Josh Gordon for a 34 yard passing touchdown that put New England up 31-17.  To seal the game, Sony Michel who racked up 98 yards for the game also scored on a 34-yard rushing play to break the game wide open with only 7:08 in the fourth quarter.  In all, the passing attack for the Patriots was led by James White and Rob Gronkowski who combined for 16 catches for 152 yards with White having a score in the contest.  The Rushing attack only mustered 97 yards with Michel leading the way, however, the Patriots did not give up a sack in the win while also going three for four inside the red zone.  Their 21st ranked rushing attack performed well in giving up only 84 yards awhile its pass defense were torched for 355 yards total foe the game with Andrew Luck having three TD’s as the Colts also went three for four inside the red zone.  They may be a bit thin on the defensive line in this contest as Geneo Grissom and Malcolm Brown are both questionable with ankle and knee injuries and are uncertain as to whether they will play.

How Kansas City Chiefs & New England Patriots Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Kansas City is 5-0 ATS while the OU is 3-2

New England is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 2-3

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will likely be the game of the season for both teams as the Patriots have been on and off all season while the Chiefs have really impressed with the emergence of Pat Mahomes along with the other playmakers for the Chiefs.  In all, look for this to be an offensive minded matchup as the Pats may indeed have some critical pieces missing on the defensiive front.  Of course, look for both teams to be up for the challenge as the Patriots seek their third straight win while KC seeks to win their fourth game away from home this year.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  New England -3.5

My reason for the pick :

While I feel that the Chiefs will certainly come to play in this contest, one must look at certain facts for this upcoming matchup.  While both defenses having been very much shaky leading up to this matchup, despite its inconsistencies, the New England defense is only allowing 21.6 points per game, good for 6th in the league.  On the other hand, their pass defense is much better as they are ranked 14th while allowing 252 yards per outing.  On the other hand, the Chiefs are ranked dead last in total yards allowed with 462 yards given up per game to their opponents while they are allowing 26 points per game.  And with both teams struggling to stop the run thus far, expect a high scoring matchup in this game to where Brady will certainly pick apart a Chiefs defense that is no stranger to giving up the big play.  I must believe that they will give up more than New England in this matchup, thus allowing the home team to cover.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 59

My reason for the prediction :

I will ride the over in this game as the over has been the play in recent meetings. Combine this with the fact that both defenses are simply not playing well and by going up against two quarterbacks that are red hot at the moment, this certainly spells the over in this contest.  In all, expect Brady to light up the defensive secondary once again while Mahomes and the offense for the Chiefs that are currently putting up 35 points per game, good for 2nd in the league, will impress once again, albeit in a week six loss.
