Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Los Angeles Rams vs Denver Broncos
The undefeated Los Angeles Rams will travel to Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado, to face the Denver Broncos in week six NFL action beginning at 4:05 pm EST on Sunday afternoon. The Rams are coming off a 33-31 road win over the Seattle Seahawks as they rallied in late in the second half to pick u the hard-fought victory while the Broncos suffered a 34-16 road loss to the NY Jets in week five as they fell 21-10 at the half while being outscored 13-6 in the second en route to their third straight loss. These teams have not met in quite some time as their last meeting dates to November 16, 2014 as the Rams picked up the 22-7 home win to where they covered as home underdogs while the under was the play with the total being set at 49.5 points. The underdog is 5-0 in the last five meetings amongst these two teams, overall.
Los Angeles Rams's Latest Performance :
The Broncos endured a terrible road loss versus the Jets last Sunday as they could not overcome four huge sacks by the Jets defense. They racked up only 92 yards for the game with Phillip Lindsey having 61 yards on 12 attempts while Case Keenum had 377 yards passing along with two TD’s and an interception in the loss. Demaryius Thomas paced the receiving corps with 105 yards and a score, however, the defense did not pull their weight in this contest as they not only allowed 323 yards rushing to the Jets, but, would also give up 205 return yards to the home team as well. Sam Darnold was solid in throwing for 198 yards, three TD’s along with an interception while Isiah Crowell rushed for 219 yards on 15 attempts with a touchdown. The Broncos defense, however, limited the Jets to 18 first downs for the game while allowing them to convert only one of three possession inside the red zone for the day. The suddenly struggling offense for Denver will be shorthanded on the offensive line for this game as Jared Veldheer will be a no go due to a knee injury while tackle Garrett Bollles is day to day with an ankle injury and uncertain to play in this matchup. On defense, Denver will continue to be without cornerback Adam Jones while Tremaine Brock is also day to day with a groin injury.
Denver Broncos 's Latest Performance :
The Rams pulled out a huge victory over Seattle in their last time out as the home team possessed a 31-24 lead late in the third quarter before Todd Gurley II scrambled for a five-yard touchdown run while Cairo Santos nailed a 39 yard field goal to seal the victory with 6:05 left to go in the game. The defense for the Rams only allowed 183 yards to Russell Wilson and the Seahawk pass offense, however, they gave up 190 yards total as Chris Carson dominated a rush defense that entered the game allowing 107 yards per game. The defense also allowed 118 return yards in the game while the Seahawks went 100% in the red zone for the day (2-2). The offense for the Rams racked up 155 total yards with Gurley II having 77 yards along with three touchdowns in the win while Jared Goff had 321 yards in the air with a touchdown pass along with two picks. Furthermore, the Rams were four of six inside the red zone while having 30 first downs compared to allowing only 20 for the Seahawks. The Rams will be shorthanded at receiver for this matchup as Cooper Kupp and Brandin Cooks will both be questionable for this week’s matchup as they suffered concussion in their last outing.
How Los Angeles Rams & Denver Broncos Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Los Angeles is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 3-2
Denver is 0-4-1 ATS while the OU is 2-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Rams take their show on the road to take on a reeling Broncos squad that will be looking to clean things up. The problem is that their problem is on defense and with as they are ranked 30th in the rush in giving up 140 yards per game while the pass defense is allowing 256 yards per outing. This can certainly be a damaging thing with the Rams coming into the matchup with the 2nd ranked passing attack (337 yds/game) along with the 7th ranked rushing attack in the NFL (131 yds/game). and with Jones and Brock possibly not suiting up, the Rams look to capitalize on an already shaky secondary in this matchup.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Los Angeles Rams -7
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Rams in this contest as I feel as though they will do a great job in neutralizing the passing game for the Broncos. I worry, however, that they will allow the home team to run the ball in this contest as their rush defense gives up 107 yards per outing for a ranking of 19 in the league. Nonetheless, I trust that the offense for the Rams will pull them through to get yet another victory in this game as Goff and Gurley II have certainly shined this season in allowing the Rams to average 35 points per game. in all, the Broncos defense acted as the stalwart for the team early on, however, now that they are struggling, expect them to fall at home while not being able to cover the spread on Sunday.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 52.5
My reason for the prediction :
The Broncos are ranked next to last in stopping the run while the Rams and Gurley II have been dominated in the trenches while finding the open holes to exploit opposing defenses all year long. I expect this to continue in this matchup as the Rams will certainly put some points on the board against this Denver defense. The Broncos may also put some points on the board as they boast the 3rd ranked rushing attack in the league in averaging 137 yards on the ground per outing with Lindsey manning the backfired. And while the Rams do not have many weak spots, their rush defense is one of them as they are ranked 19th in the league in giving up 107 yards per game on the ground. In all, both teams will have numerous opportunities to put up scores in this game as the over is the strongest play in this instance.
