Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Cleveland Browns vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Cleveland Browns will travel to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, for week seven NFL action beginning at 1 pm EST as they will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.  In their last outing, the Bucs suffered a 34-29 road division loss to the Atlanta Falcons in week six as Matt Bryant sealed the victory for the Falcons with a 57-yard field goal.  The Browns took the loss last weekend as well as they were blown out at home against the Los Angeles Chargers by a 38-14 score as they were pounded on the ground by the Chargers to the tune of 246 total yards for the game.  The last time these two teams squared off was on November 2, 2014 as the Browns pulled off the 22-17 home win as then-starter Brian Hoyer threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns in the win despite Cleveland being outgained 113-56 on the ground.

Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :

The Cleveland Browns will certainly look to get back on the field after their last loss at home versus the Chargers as their 29th ranked defense allowed 246 yards on the day while also allowing 116 return yards.  They also allowed the Chargers to convert three of four possessions within the red zone while also giving up 24 total first downs for the game.  Melvin Gordon II was unstoppable with 132 yards along with three touchdowns while the Browns were able to collect 103 yards on the ground with Duke Johnson Jr along with Carlos Hyde combining for 16 rushes for 70 yards in the loss.  Finally, Baker Mayfield threw a TD and one interception on a day when he passed for 238 yards total, yet the Browns allowed five sacks for the game while going one for three inside the red zone.  Look for the Bucs 5th ranked rush defense to attempt to stuff the Browns rushing attack that is currently averaging 138 yards per game while allowing Mayfield and the 23rd ranked passing attack to put in work against a Tampa Bay defensive secondary that is allowing 356 yards per game, good for only last in the league.  Unfortunately, the Browns may be without receiver Damion Ratley who is day to day with a concussion while linebacker Joe Shobert is day to day with a hamstring injury.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers's Latest Performance :

The Bucs rallied in the second half versus the Atlanta Falcons to outscore them 13-10 after going in at the half down by a 24-13 score, yet a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Tevin Coleman along with a field goal by Matt Bryant was the difference as the Bucs would lose their 3rd straight game.  Jameis Winston ended the game with 395 yards, 4 TD’s, along with two touchdown passes in the contest with Adam Humphries and Desean Jackson combining for seven catches for 157 yards in the loss along with Peyton Barber having 82 yards on 13 carries for a rushing attack that had 123 yards on the ground for the day.  The defense for the Bucs, however, allowed Ryan to throw for 354 yards and three touchdown passes while Julio Jones caught ten passes for 143 yards.  And while the Bucs allowed only 70 yards rushing on the day, the Falcons were three of three inside the red zone.  The defense for Tampa Bay may be without cornerbacks Carlton Davis (groin) and Ryan Smith (concussion) who are day to day with injuries while defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is also day to day with a calf injury.  On offense, the Bucs’ offensive tackle Demar Dotson is day to day with a knee injury.

How Cleveland Browns & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Cleveland is 4-2 ATS while the OU is 3-3

Tampa Bay is 2-3 ATS while the OU is 5-0

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Both teams suffered huge losses their last time out, however, they both must be pushing the panic button at this time.  The Browns have lost two of three games while the Bucs have dropped three straight as each will definitely be looking for a win in this matchup.  The Browns are averaging only 13 points in their last two outings while the Bucs have allowed 30 or more points in four of their last five games overall.  This can certainly be an opportunity for Mayfield and the Browns to put up some yards in their passing attack as the Bucs are terrible in defending the pass.  On the other hand, the Browns continue to be ranked in the lower echelon within the NFL in passing, thus making one unsure if they can capitalize on the Bucs vulnerability to give up big plays on the back end.  The Bucs will look to also exploit the Browns pass secondary that is allowing 356 yards per game while attempting to shore up their rushing attack that is ranked 31st in the league as they will go up against a Browns rush defense that is allowing 138 yards per outing.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Tampa Bay -3

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Bucs in this game despite the Browns playing well on the road though they remain 0-2 for the season with both losses being by an average of three points.  In all, the Bucs need a win desperately and will look to utilize Winston and his playmakers in which to make some big plays on offense.  The rushing game should also be solid versus Cleveland’s defensive line as they have not done well at all in stopping the run this year.  With that being said, the home team will cruise to victory in this matchup behind their passing attack that will continuously bite the Browns for huge chunks of yardage throughout.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 49.5

My reason for the prediction :

I will also back the over in this game as it has been the play in two of the Browns last three games while being the result in the last five games for the Bucs this season.  Besides, with both teams giving up 400 yards to their opponents per week along with around 30 points combined, look for Mayfield and Winston to battle in this contest while the rushing games will certainly be much better versus a shaky defensive unit in Cleveland along with a solid, yet, injury riddled unit in Tampa Bay.

Betting trends for Cleveland Browns:

    • Cleveland is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
    • Cleveland is 3-10-1 ATS in its last 14 games on the road
    • The total has gone OVER in 12 of Cleveland’s last 17 games on the road

Betting trends for Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

    • Tampa Bay is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games
    • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Tampa Bay’s last 5 games
