Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins
The Dallas Cowboys will travel to meet the Washington Redskins in the team’s first division meeting of the season which will be held on Sunday afternoon at FedEx Field in Washington, DC… The Cowboys are fresh off a 40-7 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday as the rushing attack was the main catalyst in posting 206 yards for the game. The Redskins are also coming off a 23-17 home win versus the Carolina Panthers as Dustin Hopkins chipped in three huge field goals to seal the victory. The last time the teams met was on November 30, 2017 as the Cowboys pulled of the 38-14 home win as they not only capitalized off four turnovers for the Redskins, but, the rushing attack racked up 182 yards for the game thanks to Alfred Morris powering in 127 yards and a score.
Dallas Cowboys 's Latest Performance :
The Cowboys had been up and down before their meeting with the Jaguars last Sunday, however, after a blowout loss, this can be exactly what the struggling team needed in which to get them going for the rest of the season. The defense held the Jags scoreless in the first half while allowing only one touchdown in the game as the victory racked up only 204 yards total as they collected three sacks on Blake Bortles while TJ Yeldon and the running game was nonexistent in putting up only 65 yards for the game. Dallas, on the other hand, control the ball for 38 minutes for the contest as Elliot ran for 106 yards and a score while Dak Prescott passed for 183 yards along with two touchdown passes both to Cole Beasley who ended the game with nine catches for 101 yards total. The Dallas offense allowed two sacks in the game yet were four of five inside the red zone for the day. They will find it much more difficult to run or pass on a Redskins team that is currently ranked 6th and 9th in the league, respectively, in both catagories.
Washington Redskins's Latest Performance :
The Redskins picked up a much-needed win after a bye week versus the Carolina Panthers as Alex Smith paced the passing attack with 156 yards passing along with two touchdown passes as Vernon Davis and Paul Richardson Jr. were the recipients in combining for six receptions for 79 yards on the day. The rushing attack collected 132 yards total in the win as Adrian Peterson chipped in 97 yards on 17 carries in the victory. The 6th ranked rush defense for the Skins limited the Panthers rushing attack to only 81 yards on the night as Cam Newton, besides throwing for 275 yards, two TD’s along with an interception on the day, led the rushing attack with 43 yards. The defense for Washington collected three turnovers in the contest while holding the Panthers to one of three conversions inside the red zone in addition to holding the football for only 24 minutes total. The top ten ranked defense in every major category in Washington will now turn their focus to a Dallas Cowboys squad that is brimming with confidence along with possessing the 2nd ranked rushing attack in the league behind Ezekiel Elliot.
How Dallas Cowboys & Washington Redskins Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Dallas is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 2-4
Washington is 3-2 ATS while the OU is 2-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
As stated, this will certainly be a litmus test for both teams in that the Redskins have played well thus far, particularly on defense, while the Cowboys hope that the momentum obtained through whipping the Jaguars in week six can transfer to its matchup at FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon. Of course, the Redskins will offer much more resistance for their rushing attack that had a field day versus a Jacksonville defense that came into the game ranked as one of the best in the league; However, the Cowboys will certainly be looking forward to the challenge that awaits. Combine this with the fact that this will be a division game and you certainly have a matchup that will be intriguing and exciting.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Washington Redskins -1.5
My reason for the pick :
While I like the way in which the Cowboys played last week versus the jaguars, I happen to feel as though the Redskins have been tough to beat at home this year, particularly after they lost to the Colts in week two. Since, they have outscored their next two opponents in Green Bay and Carolina by a score of 54-34 while covering the spread in each contest. With that being said, expect them to try Dallas’ pass and rush defense which ranks in the top ten in the league. Alex Smith along with Peterson must make plays in this game for the home team to get a win. Furthermore, with the way that each have played thus far, along with the inconsistency that Dallas has exhibited, particularly on the road where they are 0-3 for the season, I will back the Skins to cover in this NFC East showdown on Sunday.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 41.5
My reason for the prediction :
The under has been the play in two of the last three home games for the Redskins while it has also been the result in the last three road games for the Cowboys (four of six games overall). With that being said, the under is certainly the strong play in this contest as I see a defensive game throughout its duration with both teams constantly battling for control of the trenches. Of course, both will put some points on the board, however, the total will remain under its set amount of points, with Washington taking advantage of more scoring opportunities than the visitors.
Betting trends for Dallas Cowboys :
- Cowboys are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.
- Under is 4-0 in Cowboys last 4 games on grass.
- Cowboys are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in October.
Betting trends for Washington Redskins:
- Redskins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
- Redskins are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
- Redskins are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in Week 7.
