Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Denver Broncos vs Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals will host the Denver Broncos at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on Thursday night at 8:20 pm EST to begin the week seven NFL slate.  The Cardinals are coming off a 27-17 road loss versus the Minnesota Vikings in week six as the rush defense allowed 195 rushing yards to which they could not recover from.  The Denver Broncos lost their fourth straight game at home versus the Los Angeles Rams by a 23-20 score as Todd Gurley II ran all over their defense in racking up 208 yards and two scores in the win for the visitors.  The last time these two teams met was on October 5, 2014 as the Broncos destroyed the Cardinals by a 41-20 score at home as they outscored the Cardinals 20-3 in the second half on the strength of a Peyton Manning touchdown pass along with an eight-yard touchdown run from Juwan McMannis on their way to the victory.

Denver Broncos's Latest Performance :

The Broncos cannot buy a victory at this point in the season as they fell by three points to the Rams on Sunday afternoon despite outscoring them 17-10 in the second half thanks to two Case Keenum touchdown passes.  Nonetheless, Todd Gurley II put the team on his back as he rushed for 208 yards along with two touchdowns in the win while Jared Goff threw for 201 yards and an interception.  The 10th ranked rushing team in the league in the Broncos could only muster 60 yards in the contest as Royce Freeman led with 22 yards, however, Keenum had 322 yards passing on the day with two TD’s and a pick for the Broncos while Emmanuel Sanders racked up 115 yards and a score in the losing effort.  The Rams sacked Keenum five times in the game while controlling the time of possession in holding the football for over 35 minutes due to their effective running game that had 270 total yards on Denver’s last place rush defense.  The defense may suffer in this matchup as well with Safety Dymonte Thomas (chest) along with defensive end Derek Wolf and cornerback Adam Jones all being questionable with hamstring injuries.

Arizona Cardinals 's Latest Performance :

The Cardinals allowed four sacks on Josh Rosen in their matchup versus the Vikings while committing two turnovers in their fifth loss in six games as they were only able to garner 61 yards on the ground.  Rosen ended with only 240 yards along with an interception in defeat while Christian Kirk has six receptions for 77 yards in the game for an offense that had only 16 first downs for the game while holding the ball for only 25 minutes in the contest.  The defense was atrocious in allowing 195 yards on the ground as Latavius Murray had 155 yards along with a score while Adam Thielen racked up 123 yards on 11 catches and a TD for Minnesota.  The defense did, however, record four sacks along with two turnovers in the loss but were not able to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the game.  Offensive lineman Justin Pugh (hand), Jeremy Vujnovich (hamstring), and Mike Iupati (back) are all questionable for Thursday nights matchup.

How Denver Broncos & Arizona Cardinals Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Denver is 1-4-1 ATS while the OU is 2-4

Arizona is 3-2-1 ATS while the OU is 2-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

It is clear to see that this will indeed be a low scoring affair amongst teams that have struggled to move the chains all year long.  Add to the equation that the Cardinals may be without three offensive lineman for this game, one must wonder if they can truly take advantage of Denver’s inability to stop the run in ranking dead last in the league.  On the other hand, Keenum and Sanders must be the difference makers in this matchup in exploiting the 12th ranked pass defense for the Cardinals while also utilizing their rushing attack, which was subpar versus the Rams last weekend, to maintain possession of the ball throughout the game.  In all, both teams will be scratching for a win in this matchup as they both have gone cold on offense while their defenses are simply seeing the field way too much.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:   Denver Broncos -1.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Broncos in this game, particularly with Arizona having a trio of offensive lineman that will be questionable for this matchup on Thursday night.  Combine this with the fact that the Cardinals have done nothing in the pass or rush game this season while Denver has shown signs of being alive in possessing the 10th and 16th ranked rushing and passing attacks in the league, they should have a solid day versus an Arizona defense that is spending too much time on the field due to their offense not converting on third down.  In all, the Broncos will cover the small spread in this matchup while getting back on the winning track.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 40

My reason for the prediction :

With the Broncos averaging only 20 points per game along with the Cardinals putting up only 13.7 points per outing, look for these two offenses to remain stagnant versus two defenses that is allowing an average of 24 points combined to their opponents this year.  Both defensive units, however, are solid in defending the pass as this will cause the under to be the play in that Rosen and Keenum will struggle once again while the Broncos will have success versus the Cardinals due to their ability to run the ball on a Cardinals rush defense that ranks next to last in stopping the run.  In all, the visitors will score just enough to sneak out a win in week seven while the total will remain below its set limit.
