Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Los Angeles Rams vs San Francisco 49’ers

The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California, to take on the San Francisco 49’ers on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 pm EST in week seven NFL action.  The Rams came away with a 23-20 road win over the Denver Broncos last weekend as they held off a late rally in the second half by Denver thanks to a Todd Gurley II touchdown run along with a Cairo Santos field goal thank sealed the victory.  The Niners, on the other hand, lost their fourth straight game on Monday night on the road versus the Green Bay Packers by a 33-30 score as Mason Crosby sealed the game as regulation expired with a 27 yard field goal in what was a high scoring affair to where both teams garnered over 400 yards of total offense.  The last time the two teams faced off was on December 31, 2017 as the Niners came away with the 34-13 road win as they rushed for a total of 169 yards in the game while having two rushing touchdowns by Micah Hyde in the victory.  The Rams are 0-5 ATS versus the Niners in their last five meetings while being 1-4 ATS in the last five games at Levi’s Stadium.  Finally, the underdogs are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

Los Angeles Rams's Latest Performance :

The Rams jumped out to a 13-3 lead at the half while holding off the Broncos late in the game as they were led by Gurley II with 208 yards for the game with two touchdowns for a rushing attack that put in 270 yards for the day.  Jared Goff threw for 201 yards and an interception while Robert Woods collected 109 yards on seven receptions.  The Rams, however, were not perfect in this game as they allowed five sacks along with converting only two of five possessions within the red zone.  Furthermore, their defense was stellar in stopping the rush in allowing only 60 yards total along while collecting two sacks, yet Case Keenum threw for 322 yards, two TD’s along with an interception in the loss for Denver.  The Rams seek to continue their unbeaten streak versus a team in the Niners that have struggled in stopping the pass this year in ranking 25th in the league in allowing 279 yards per game to their opponents.

San Francisco 49’ers's Latest Performance :

San Francisco went up 24-20 at the half on Monday night versus the Packers, however, due to a 16-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams along with a game clinching field goal by Mason Crosby as time expired, the Packers were able to sneak out a slim victory.  Green Bay was able to preserve a 425-yard passing night by Aaron Rodgers as he tacked on two touchdown passes in the win while CJ Beathard passed for 245 yards along with two touchdown passes and an interception.  Marquise Goodwin had a great night as well as he led the receiving corps with 126 yards and two TD’s while the Niners performed well in their rushing attack which entered the game 3rd in the league in collecting 174 yards led by Raheem Mostart, who finished with 87 yards on 12 carries.  And while the Niners’ rush defense, currently allowing 98 yards on the ground per game, gave up 116 yards to the Packers while allowing them to convert three of six times within the red zone, they were able to collect three sacks to keep the game close.  It would be fair to say that the margin of error is very slim versus a Rams team that ranks in the top ten in every major offensive category this season while the defense for San Francisco is allowing 30 points per outing along with 279 yards in the air.  To make matters worse for the Niners, defensive backs Adrian Colbert (head) and Tavarius Moore (knee) are both day to day with injuries and uncertain to play in this matchup.

How Los Angeles Rams & San Francisco 49’ers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Los Angeles is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 3-3

San Francisco is 1-4 ATS while the OU is 1-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

The Rams are on a roll at this point in the season and could very well be entering a trap game of sorts in this matchup.  While they have scored at least 30 points in five of their six games this season, they began the season going 3-0 ATS; Nonetheless, in their last three games, they scored 30 or more points two out of three times yet allowed their opponents 30 or more points twice during this time.  In addition to this, the Rams are 0-3 ATS in their last three outings.  And while the Niners have struggled this season, Los Angeles does not have a history of playing great versus San Francisco at Levi’s Stadium.  With that being the case, it will be interesting to see how the Rams perform after having their lowest offensive output of the season versus the Broncos last weekend.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Los Angeles Rams -10.5

My reason for the pick :

Trends can certainly provide insight into an upcoming matchup as we know, however, I will buck the trends in this instance and take the Rams to cover the huge spread over a struggling San Francisco squad on Sunday.  The home team is 2-4 ATS this year and with their rushing attack being the tip of the spear for their offense, they will surely find it difficult to rush against a Rams defense that allows a tad less than 100 yards per game on the ground to their opponents.  Beathard and company may be without their full compliment of receivers for this game as well which hampers an already middle of the road passing attack, thus allowing me to feel as though the Rams will bring the pressure on Betheard early and often.  In all, look for Los Angeles to continue their dominating play on the ground versus the Niners defensive front while Goff will shine once again versus a pass defense that allows way too many big plays during the course of a game.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over (off)

My reason for the prediction :

The over has not only been the play in recent meetings amongst these teams, but, has also been the result in a combined eight of the last 12 games overall for both teams.  And while the Rams labored on offense in their last outing, they will find some space to operate versus a Niners team that gives up 30 per game.  On the other hand, the Rams have been much more giving the past few weeks as well on defense, thus allowing me to take the over in this contest as the visitors will take advantage of much more of their scoring opportunities en route to a win in week seven.

Betting trends for Los Angeles Rams:

    • Over is 9-1 in Rams last 10 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
    • Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC.
    • Over is 4-1 in Rams last 5 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

Betting trends for San Francisco 49’ers:

    • Over is 8-0 in 49ers last 8 games on grass.
    • Over is 4-0 in 49ers last 4 vs. a team with a winning record.
    • Over is 4-0 in 49ers last 4 home games.
