Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

New York Giants vs Atlanta Falcons

The struggling New York Giants will travel to Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, to face the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night for a prime-time battle beginning at 8:15 pm EST.  In their last outing, the Falcons picked up a much-needed win over division foe Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a 34-29 score as Matt Bryant sealed the deal with a 57 yard field goal with only 1:10 remaining in the game as the Falcons halted a three-game skid.  The Giants, on the other hand, have lost three straight games with their last being a 34-13 home division loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on last Thursday.  In this game, the Giants went down 24-6 at the half while only scoring a touchdown in the second half en route to yet another deflating loss.  These teams last met on September 20, 2015 as the Falcons pulled away with the 24-20 road win by scoring 14 points in the final period with a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan along with a two-yard run from Dontae Freeman to seal the victory.

New York Giants's Latest Performance :

The Giants wasted an outstanding day for rookie Saquon Barkley as he racked up 130 yards along with a touchdown in the loss while Eli Manning threw for 281 yards and an interception for an offense that collected 401 yards total in the game, yet only scored 13 points.  The Giants offense also obtained only 17 first downs on the day while allowing four sacks in addition to going 0 for three inside the red zone while their defense, on the other hand, allowed 105 return yards while the Eagles converted four of six attempts inside the red zone.  Carson Wentz threw for 278 yards along with three touchdowns in the win for the Eagles while Nelson Agular collected 91 yards on three receptions.  In all, the Giants have allowed at least 30 points in their last three games while the offense is averaging only 20 points during this time.  They look to change their offensive fortunes against an Atlanta team that is ranked next to last in the league in points allowed while ranking 30th in total yards per game with 418 yards per.  Receivers Cody Latimer (hamstring), Evan Engram (knee), and Russell Shepard (neck) are all day to day and uncertain as to whether they will play in this matchup.

Atlanta Falcons's Latest Performance :

The Falcons got 354 yards passing from Matt Ryan along with three touchdown passes while Julio Jones ended the game with 143 yards on 10 catches to lead the receiving corps.  Atlanta was only able to collect 70 yards on the ground as Tevin Coleman had 35 yards rushing as the Falcons were three for three inside the red zone for the game.  The defense for the Falcons allowed the Bucs 512 yards total as Jameis Winston finished the game with 395 yards, four TD’s along with two interceptions while Adam Humphries and Desean Jackson combined for seven catches for 157 yards in the loss.  The Falcons defense, however, had two sacks in the contest yet allowed the Bucs to convert four of six third down conversions.  Atlanta’s defense has been terrible all season in allowing 32 points to their opponents yet look to dominate a Giants team that is averaging only 19.5 points per game.  Their offense, on the other hand, may be limited with receivers Mohamed Sanu (hip), Calvin Ridley (hamstring), along with Kicker Matt Bryant (hamstring) who kicked the game winning field goal versus the Bucs, are all day to day with injuries.  Running back Dontae Freeman remains day to day with a foot injury.

How New York Giants & Atlanta Falcons Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

New York Giants are 2-4 ATs while the OU is 3-3

Atlanta Falcons are 2-4 ATS while the OU is 5-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

While the Falcons could use yet another victory to build from their momentum of their division win last weekend, the Giants certainly need a win in which to not only remain competitive, but, to stop the grumbling in New York about the way in which their offense is performing this season.  They may indeed perform much better versus a Falcons defense that cannot stop anyone from scoring while the 10th ranked pass defense for the Giants will look to neutralize Jones and Ryan within the Atlanta passing game enough to keep the game tight while even pulling out a victory in the end.  In other words, a win will not be easy for the Giants who are 1-2 on the road this season, however, the Falcons have not played well at home either, yet their win versus the Bucs in week six could indeed provide them some confidence despite their defense continuing to be a liability.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Atlanta Falcons -6

My reason for the pick :

The Giants continue to perform inconsistent on offense in 2018, however, I feel as though they will be much more in sync versus an Atlanta team that has played awful on the defensive side of the ball this year. Nonetheless, with Ryan and Jones continuing to gel with each week that passes, I see the home team covering the spread in this matchup despite Sanu and Ridley possibly not being in the lineup. Of course, with the Falcons giving up so many points, the Giants will keep the game close, however, Jones has had great outings versus the Giants in their last matchup and I expect this to be the case once again on Monday night.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over 54.5

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in five of the last six games for Atlanta while being the result in three of the last four overall for the Giants. And with both teams allowing close to 30 points per game to their opponents, expect for the over to be the strong play in this Monday night showdown versus two struggling teams. This could be a game to where the Giants gain some confidence on offense while the Falcons should be able to crank up their rushing attack with Coleman. In all, the over will indeed be the play in this matchup in what will be a high-scoring affair to where the Falcons will outlast the road team.

Betting trends for New York Giants:

    • Giants are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game.
    • Under is 5-1 in Giants last 6 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
    • Giants are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.

Betting trends for Atlanta Falcons:

    • Over is 5-0 in Falcons last 5 games overall.
    • Over is 5-0 in Falcons last 5 games on grass.
    • Falcons are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in Week 7.
