San Francisco 49’ers vs Arizona Cardinals
The reeling San Francisco 49’ers will travel to State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona, to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 pm EST. The last time thee tow teams met was on October 7, 2018 when the Cardinals picked up the 28-18 road win as they also covered as three-point underdogs. Nonetheless, the Niners are 9-3 ATS in their last twelve meetings in Phoenix. In their last outing, the Cardinals continued their disastrous season by losing at home to the Denver Broncos by a 45-10 score on Thursday night as Denver went up by a 35-3 halftime score while cruising to the easy victory. The Niners were manhandled at home by a Rams by a 29-10 score in their last time out as the home team allowed two touchdown rushes by Todd Gurley II as well as two touchdown passes from Jared Goff as they dropped their second straight game to where they allowed their opponents 30 or more points. The road team is 5-0 ATS in their last five meetings while the underdogs is 7-3 ATS in the last ten games overall.
San Francisco 49’ers's Latest Performance :
The Niners have lost five straight games as their offense is averaging 24 points per game while their defense has allowed 27 points or more in each contest. In their last outing, the Los Angeles Rams put up 39 points on the road versus the Cardinals as they mustered 331 yards total for the game with Jared Goff throwing for two touchdowns while Todd Gurley II had two touchdowns on 65 yards rushing. The defense for the Rams was the catalyst for the win, however, as they collected seven total sacks while having four turnovers (2 fumbles, 2 interceptions) while allowing just 228 total yards for a Niners team that is ranked 21st in the league with 360 yards per outing. CJ Betheard threw for only 170 yards and a TD along with two interceptions in the game while Raheem Mostart (7 rushes, 59 yards) and George Kittle (98 yards, 5 rec, TD) led the rushing and passing attacks for San Francisco. The Niners, nonetheless possesses the second ranked rushing attack in the league in averaging 137 yards per game and will be squaring off versus the last ranked rushing defense in the NFL in the Cardinals.
Arizona Cardinals 's Latest Performance :
The Cardinals season continues to labor along as they are now losers of two straight. Nonetheless, they have a win on the season which came at the expense of their upcoming opponent in the San Francisco 49’ers to where they picked up the 28-18 road win at Levi’s Stadium on October 7th. With that being the case, they have struggled since then by putting up a combined 27 points in their last two games. Their defense, on the other hand, gave up 72 points combined during this time. They would give up 45 points to the Denver Broncos in their last matchup as the Broncos not only scored on offense, but, its defense scored on two pick sixes by Josh Rosen as well. The Cardinals offense also gave up six sacks for the outing while also losing two fumbles in what was a horrible outing from start to finish. Rosen ended with 194 yards and a touchdown pass while the rushing attack was nonexistent in racking up only 69 yards for the contest. QB Case Keenum threw for 161 yards, a TD, and an interception in the win for Denver while Phillip Lindsey ran for 90 yard and a TD for a Broncos rushing attack that put up 131 yards total.
How San Francisco 49’ers & Arizona Cardinals Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
San Francisco is 2-5 ATS while the OU is 5-2
Arizona is 3-3-1 ATS while the OU is 3-4
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
The Niners will look to pick up its second win of the season versus a team that beat them earlier in the season in the Cardinals. Of course, they will be looking to get the running game started early as the Cardinals simply cannot stop the run in 2018. And with Beathard and company possessing the 24th ranked passing attack, they may not find much success against the Cardinals 11th ranked pass defense that allows just 234 yards per game. The Cardinals, however, are ranked last in every offensive category while the Niners will look to take advantage of this on defense in bringing the pressure while capitalizing on the youth and inexperience of Rosen and the offensive unit.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: San Francisco 49’ers -1
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Niners in this matchup as they are simply the better team all around when compared to the Cardinals. Rosen is beginning to struggle in his rookie season which could make opportunities for the Niners defense that is allowing just 370 total yards per game. And while the Niners are not very efficient on offense, they possess a punishing rushing attack that will exploit the vulnerabilities for Arizona, which is stopping the run. In all, take the Niners on the road to pick up their second win of the season this weekend.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 42.5
My reason for the prediction :
Both teams, despite their defenses allowing close to 30 points per game to their opponent, are struggling at this point in the season. It is for this reason that I feel as if the under will be the strong play in this matchup. The under has been the play in three of the last four home games for the Cardinals and with an inconsistent 49’er team coming to town, expect this game to be low scoring and tight with the road team pulling out a slim victory.
