Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers
The Cleveland Browns will travel to Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to take on division opponent Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm EST. The Browns were 26-23 road losers to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their last outing as they rallied to score 14 points in the fourth quarter only to lose in overtime due to a Chandler Catanzaro field goal which allowed them to suffer their second straight loss and third in four outings. The Steelers are coming off a bye week yet won their last outing versus the Cincinnati Bengals by a 28-21 score as the defense held the Bengals to only 213 yards total for the game while James Conner racked up 111 yards along with two TD’s in the win. The last time these teams met was on September 9, 2018 as teams ended in a 21-21 tie. The Browns are 3-1 ATS in the last four outings versus the Steelers while the underdogs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games. Finally, the over is 11-5-1 in the last 17 games at Heinz Field.
Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :
The Browns have dropped two straight games and three of four overall; However, aside from a 38-14 loss to the Chargers at home on October 14th, their average loss for the remaining three games was only by an average of three points. They are 5-2 ATS for the year and are 2-1 ATS on the road this year. Nonetheless, they covered the spread in a road loss versus the Tampa Bay Bucs in their last time out as they played well enough to win, however, due to a Chandler Catanzaro 59-yard field goal in overtime, they suffered the heartbreaking defeat, once again. Baker Mayfield threw for 215 yards along with two scores while Nick Chubb led the team in rushing with 80 yards on 18 carries. Jarvis Landry also had 10 catches for 97 yards and a score in the loss. Cleveland will rely once again on their 5th ranked rushing attack to open things up offensively as they battle a Steelers defense that is allowing only 98 yard per outing, good for 11th in the league.
Pittsburgh Steelers's Latest Performance :
The Steelers began the season on a shaky note, however, rebounded before their bye week to win two straight games to which they went 2-0 ATS. Furthermore, their offense has kept up their scoring in averaging 34 points per outing while their defense has played much better as well in allowing just 19 points per game during this time to put the team in first place within the AFC North division. They whipped up on the struggling Cincinnati Bengals in their last outing as Ben Roethlisberger threw for 369 yards with his only touchdown pass being with only :10 seconds remaining in the game as he found Antonio Brown for a 31-yard strike to get the win. Brown ended the day with 105 yards on five catches while Juju smith Shuster havd seven catches for 111 yards in the win. Conner also led the team in rushing with 111 yards along with two touchdowns. The defense allowed Andy Dalton to put up 229 yards along with two touchdown passes while holding the rushing attack for the Bengals to only 62 yards total. Despite their success, the Steelers are only 1-2 at Heinz Field this year while going 1-2 ATS.
How Cleveland Browns & Pittsburgh Steelers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Cleveland is 5-2 ATS while the OU is 3-4
Pittsburgh is 3-3 ATS while the OU is 4-2
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be yet another game to where it will be won in the trenches. Both teams come into the game with solid rushing attacks that they will love to get going early and often. With that being the case, look for a battle at the line of scrimmage throughout this game as whomever wins the battle will certainly have the inside track on exploiting the opposing pass secondary that has not been solid all year. Pittsburgh is only ranked 26th in rushing offense for the year while the Browns rush defense is horrible at ranking 26th in the league.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers -8
My reason for the pick :
I will back the Steelers in this game despite the Browns putting up some points while exploiting the Steelers in the back end of their defense (where they are most vulnerable); However, the Browns are horrible at stopping opponents from scoring, particularly in the rush. And while the Steelers have not had any consistency in their rushing attack all year, look for them to have success all night long versus the Browns. It is for this reason that I will take the Steelers and the points on Sunday.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 49
My reason for the prediction :
Expect for the Steelers to hold the momentum in this matchup from the start. Combine this with the fact that their offense continues to average well over 30 points per game while the over has been the result in four of their six games this season, I will certainly back the total to go over in is contest amongst teams that will be clawing for four quarters to get a victory. Besides, the over has been the play in recent outings amongst these teams and I happen to feel that those trends will continue Sunday.
