Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Kansas City Chiefs vs Cleveland Browns

The Kansas City Chiefs will look to continue their dominance this season by traveling to First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio to battle the lowly Browns, which have dropped three straight games, on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm EST.  Their last defeat came at the hands of division foe Pittsburgh Steelers as they allowed 168 yards on the ground as James Conner posted 146 yards along with two TD’s.  On the other hand, Pat Mahomes threw for four TD’s in their win over the Denver Broncos despite having only 49 yards rushing, as opposed to giving up 189 yards to the road team, to pick up their second straight win.  Their last matchup dates to December 27, 2015 as the Chiefs picked up the 17-13 home win as they Browns cashed in as 11.5 road underdogs.  In fact, the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings amongst these two squads.  Also, the Chiefs are 1-5 ATS in the last six games versus the Browns while the road team in 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, overall.

Kansas City Chiefs's Latest Performance :

The Chiefs offense continues to show why they are one of the most dangerous offenses in the league, while their defense continues to perform shaky with every outing that passes in ranking near the bottom in every major category including total yards allowed (432 yards), total pass yards (304 yards) along with rush yards per game (128 yards).  They allowed the Broncos over 400 yards for the game in their last outing while they put up 340 total yards for the game in their seven-point victory on Sunday.  As stated, Mahomes threw four touchdowns while passing for a total of 303 passing yards for the game with Sammy Watkins having 107 yards along with 2 TD’s in the win.  Their rushing attack only racked up 49 yards with Kareem Hunt rushing 16 times for 50 yards in addition to having 102 return yards on the day.

Patrick Lindsey torched the defense for KC in putting up 95 yards and a score while Case Keenum had 262 passing yards, two TD’s, along with a pick in the loss.  Nonetheless, the Chiefs look to improve while facing a Cleveland team that is struggling offensively while also taking advantage of their defense, which has not been able to stop the other team from scoring lately, by the way.

Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :

The Browns evened their record for the season after a confidence building win over the Ravens on October 7th.  However, they have since lost three straight games while going 1-2 ATS during this time.  Also, they are allowing their opponents 32 points per game during their current slide while their offense has put up and average of 18 points per outing.  In other words, they are indeed struggling at this point on both sides of the ball which showed in their matchup versus the Steelers.  The Browns are ranked in the lower echelon within every major defensive category for the year as the Steelers took advantage of this in putting up 168 yards on the ground with Conner putting up huge numbers while Ben Roethlisberger had 257 yards, 2 TD’s, along with an interception in the win.

Antonio Brown collected two touchdowns in the contest on 74 yards receiving while Conner also had 66 yards receiving to bolster his outstanding performance.  The Browns put up 74 yards on the ground with Nick Chubb rushing 18 times for 65 yards while Baker Mayfield passed for only 180 yards, 2 TD’s, along with an interception.  Despite their passing game keeping them in the game, the Brown’s rushing attack, which has been the positive point of their offense in 2018, struggled versus a stout defensive lineup for the Steelers.  They will certainly need to shore up this area of their offense versus a Chiefs team that allows 128 yards per game on the ground to their opponents while also ranking 29th in the league in pass yards allowed with over 300 yards per game.

How Kansas City Chiefs & Cleveland Browns Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Kansas City is 7-0 ATS while the OU is 4-3

Cleveland is 5-2 ATS while the OU is 3-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

While the Chiefs may be 3-1 in road games this year, their average margin of victory has been only by an average of six points, a far cry from their 17-point win average at home for the season.  Combine this with the fact that they have not been very good ATS versus the Browns in the past, and you have the makings of an interesting contest.  The Browns should snap out of their offensive funk in this matchup as the Chiefs are certainly very giving on the defensive end, however, how will they prevent Mahomes and the Chiefs from scoring?  This will certainly be the question if they are to halt their current losing streak at home, where they are 3-1 ATS all year.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Cleveland Browns +8

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Browns to cover in this matchup as the Chiefs certainly has given up more points on the road than they have at home.  Also, the Browns have covered well at home, as stated, and with them looking to end their current losing streak, look for them to come with focus and intensity in which to keep the game close throughout.  Again, Mayfield and company should have a solid day passing with the Chiefs being shaky within their pass secondary while Chubb should also be solid on the ground as KC is ranked 25th in rush yards allowed.  In all, the Browns may not win this game, but, will certainly make the game interesting.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 52

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in three of the last four road games for the Chiefs while, for the Browns, the over has been the result in three of their last five games, overall.  And with both defenses being so generous in recent matchups, expect this to be yet another shootout for a Chiefs team that may indeed be almost unstoppable on offense, yet, their defense is simply inconsistent in defending both the pass and the run.

Betting trends for Kansas City Chiefs:

  • Chiefs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.

  • Under is 4-0 in Chiefs last 4 games in Week 9.

  • Under is 3-0-1 in Chiefs last 4 games on grass.

Betting trends for Cleveland Browns:

  • Under is 4-0 in Browns last 4 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.

  • Over is 4-0 in Browns last 4 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.

  • Under is 5-0 in Browns last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
