Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Atlanta Falcons vs Cleveland Browns

The Atlanta Falcons will take their momentum and travel to First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, to face the Browns on Sunday NFL action beginning at 1 pm EST.  The last time these teams met dates to November 23, 2014 as the Browns picked up the 26-24 road win while covering as three-point road dogs.  Nonetheless, they were not so lucky in their last matchup versus the Chiefs as they allowed a total of 499 yards to KC while putting up 100 yards less in yardage for the contest.  In all, the Browns simply could not keep up with an offense that is as dominant as the Chiefs.  They will face yet another potentially dominant team in the Falcons that are clicking on all cylinders on offense after a 38-14 road win over the defensive minded Washington Redskins in their last time out.  Matt Ryan threw for 350 yards along with three TD’s in the game while Julio Jones went over the 100-yard mark while scoring on a TD catch as well.

Atlanta Falcons's Latest Performance :

The Falcons rolled into FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. and destroyed the Redskins as the passing game put up 350 yards along with four touchdowns thanks to Matt Ryan while Julio Jones picked up 121 yards receiving along with a TD catch in the victory, their third straight.  From the looks of it, the Falcons are beginning to look much like the threat they have been in recent years, however, they continue to reside in the third place slot in the division as Carolina and New Orleans remaining the top dogs within their respective division.  With a game versus the Saints in two weeks, the Falcons look to continue their stellar play in the passing game in which to come into this matchup with some momentum.

Of course, they must be able to crank up the passing game versus a Browns team that has struggled in every defensive area all season.  However, Mayfield may find success versus the Falcons as well as their pass defense allows over 300 yards per game.

Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :

The Browns have lost four in a row while their offense continues to sputter with Baker Mayfield under center.  In their last four outings, the Browns have put up only 19 points per game.  Mayfield has thrown for over 200 yards in three of those four games, yet has had 7 TD’s along with four interceptions during this time.  He added yet another pick to his resume in the last outing while passing for 297 yards along with two TD’s.  Nick Chubb was also a shining spot for the Browns as he pumped in two touchdowns along with 85 yards on the day.  Finally, Duke Johnson Jr led the receiving corps for Cleveland with 78 yards along with two TD catches in the loss.  And while the offense has had its problems, the defense is struggling as well.

They allowed almost 500 yards in total offense to the Chiefs in their last outing while also giving up 350 yards along with three TD’s to Pat Mahomes in the contest.  On the other hand, Kareem Hunt also shined with 91 yards along with two rushing touchdowns.  Travis Kelce was the man on the outside as he picked up two touchdown catches for the game with 99 yards total in the win.  In all, the Browns were destroyed once again in pass defense where they have struggled all year in allowing 285 yards per outing. Their rush defense is not much better as they current allow 139 yards per game to their opponents.  They will now face an Atlanta team that has gained some momentum lately while looking to keep their passing game clicking on all cylinders.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this game to be a back and forth affair to where both teams will score early and often as the offense for Atlanta will certainly look to have a solid day once again, while the Browns will simply be looking to gain more consistency in this area, altogether.  The Browns, as stated, have struggled recently and are only 1-2 ATS int their last two home games (2-4 ATS in last six overall) while the Falcons have covered in two of their last three outings, overall.  Both teams desperately need a win, so, expect the focus and intensity to be there on Sunday afternoon for both sides.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Atlanta Falcons -4

My reason for the pick :

Atlanta is certainly not on Kansas City’s level at this point of the season, however, with Ryan and Jones beginning to click together, the Falcons can be a dangerous team as the Browns will soon find out.  The Browns, as stated, are terrible in all aspects of defense this year to which the Falcons will certainly exploit throughout the game.  With that being the case, look for the road team to get out of Cleveland with a win while covering the small spread to win their fourth straight.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 50.5

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in all but two games for the Falcons this year while being the result in three of the last four games for the Browns.  Again, both teams will indeed give up some points in this contest, however, the Browns will proceed to succumb to the sheer efficiency of Atlanta and their punishing passing attack in the end.  Pick the over in this matchup as the strong play in that the Falcons will win a high scoring affair.

  • Under is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games in Week 10.
