Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
New Orleans Saints vs Cincinnati Bengals
The red-hot New Orleans Saints will face yet another challenge this weekend as they travel to Paul Brown stadium in Cincinnati Ohio, to face the Bengals on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm EST. The Saints are coming off a huge home victory versus the previously unbeaten Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night as three touchdown passes in the first half for Drew Brees along with two rushing scores from Alvin Kamara put the Saints up 35-17 while they cruised the rest of the way in winning their seventh straight game. The Bengals are coming off a bye week to which they won their last outing versus the Tampa Bay Bucs on October 28th. Nonetheless, they have not played well leading into the bye as they are losers of two of their last three outings. These teams have not met since November 16, 2014 as the Bengals picked up the 27-10 road win which covering as 8.5-point underdogs. The Saints are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings with the Bengals.
New Orleans Saints's Latest Performance :
New Orleans is on a high after beating the previously unbeaten Los Angeles Rams at home by 20 points in their last outing. They now turn their attentions to facing the Bengals, a team that is particularly struggling on the defensive side of the ball. In other words, look for New Orleans to unleash a potent passing attack along with a punishing rushing game onto the Bengals early and often. Drew Brees continues to be accurate on the year in throwing for 2336 yards this season along with 18 TD’s alongside just one INT. In his last outing versus a stout Rams defense, he passed for 346 yards with four touchdowns tosses while Alvin Kamara, who leads the team in TD’s with 12 for the year, contributed 82 yards along with two rushing scores for the Saints in the victory. Michael Thomas led the receiving corps once again in racking up 221 yards along with a touchdown as he was targeted 15 times while catching twelve of those throws.
And while the Saints allowed just 92 yards on the ground as Todd Gurley II only collected 68 yards on the night with a score, they allowed Jared Goff to go over 300 yards passing on the day as he also threw three TD’s in the loss. Nonetheless, the Saints came out with a convincing win as they are proving that they can compete with any team in the league.
Cincinnati Bengals's Latest Performance :
The Bengals were back to their old ways of scoring in their last outing versus the Tampa Bay Bucs before their bye week, however, they also seek to continue their offensive momentum as they get back into action after a week off versus the offensive minded New Orleans Saints this weekend. In all, Andy Dalton and company had been struggling leading up to their game with the Bucs in putting in only 19 points per game during a rough three game stretch; Nonetheless, came out full of fire versus an awful Tampa Bay Bucs defense and dominated to the tune of 401 total yards for the game including Dalton having 280 yards passing along with two TD’s. Of course, his main targets, Tyler Boyd (9 rec, 138 yds, TD) along with AJ Green (5 rec, 76 yds, TD) were critical to the success of the team in this matchup.
Even its rushing attack, which has been terrible this season in averaging less than 100 yards per game, was solid in this contest as Joe Mixon picked up two rushing touchdowns on 123 yards for the game. And while the Bengals offense is looking to build from this performance, the defense for the Bengals will need to also.
During the recent rough patch for Cincy, its defense was just as much the catalyst as they allowed teams to score 28 points or more in four of five games, overall. Of course, for a defense that ranks at or near the bottom in each defensive category, this should not be surprising. However, this continues to be the norm in Cincinnati these days after they gave up a total of 576 yards to the Bucs in their last time out. They will certainly need to bring their A game versus a New Orleans team that is on fire offensively and looking to pick up yet another win.
How New Orleans Saints & Cincinnati Bengals Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
New Orleans is 6-2 ATS while the OU is 4-4
Cincinnati is 4-4 ATS while the OU is 5-3
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will be an entertaining matchup as the Bengals and Saints are two scoring teams. And while the Bengals have slipped on defense lately, the Saints continue to boast one of the top rush defenses in the league. In all, expect for Dalton to test the secondary for the Saints as they are ranked next to last in the league in defending this area. On the other hand, the Saints will pick their poison in this contest as the Bengals have not played much of any defense recently.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Cincinnati Bengals +4
My reason for the pick :
Well, the Bengals certainly have the fire power on the outside to stay with the Saints in this matchup. Furthermore, look for the Saints secondary to get tested once again after Goff lit them up for three touchdowns in their last outing. In all, the Bengals will keep this game close as one has to wonder when the Saints will have a less than stellar game. This may indeed be the week for the Bengals to get a win, their second straight, as they will make this game interesting throughout.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 55
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the over with two offenses such as the Bengals and Saints. As stated, with the Bengals looking awful in defending the run and/or pass, look for the score to change early and often in this matchup. Also, the Bengals will indeed find success in the passing game against a shaky New Orleans secondary, thus allowing the over to be the strong play in this matchup.
