Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Redskins vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Washington Redskins will take to the road to face the reeling Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm EST at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.  The Redskins ended a three-game winning streak last Sunday with a 38-14 home loss to the Atlanta Falcons which entailed Matt Ryan throwing for four touchdown passes while continuously torching a Redskins pass defense that came into the game very solid.

The Buccaneers also took the 42-28 road loss to the Carolina Panthers as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for four TD’s while also having two picks in the matchup as they lost their second straight game.  These teams have not met up since October 25, 2015 as the Redskins picked up the 31-30 home win while the Bucs covered as three-point road underdogs.  The road team is 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings amongst these teams while the Skins are 1-4-2 ATS in the last seven games versus Tampa Bay, overall.

Washington Redskins's Latest Performance :

Washington had won three straight games coming into their home game with Atlanta.  The Falcons, on the other hand, had much potential yet were not playing very well.  Nonetheless, they came into FedEx Field in D.C. and totally passed the ball all over the field as Matt Ryan exploded for 350 yards and four TD’s while the rushing attack put up 154 yards for the game with Tevin Coleman having 88 yards on 13 carries while Ito Smith contributed 60 yards and a score.  This type of offensive output was not what the Redskins were used to as they came into the game allowing less than 20 points to their opponents during their three-game winning streak.

Yet, they were embarrassed at home versus Atlanta yet remaining in the top spot within the NFC East.  The rushing attack for Washington continues to rank 11th in the league yet Alex Smith led the team in rushing in their last outing with 22 yards total while throwing for 302 yards, a TD, along with a pick.  Look for them to utilize Peterson and Perrine and the running game much more this week in which to set up their passing game.  Of course, they will be tested by a Bucs defensive front that only allows 107 rushing yards per game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers's Latest Performance :

The Bucs have had a rough go of it lately as they have dropped five of their last six games, overall, while their defense continues to get toasted with every week that passes.  In all, during their current skid, the Bucs defense has allowed their opponents to average 34 points per game.  Of course, the offense is ranked seventh in the league in scoring, so, they will certainly put points up.  Nonetheless, with a defense that is so awful, they are beginning to lose games on a regular.

The Bucs defense gave up over 400 yards to Carolina in their last outing as they allowed Christian McCaffrey to rush for two touchdowns on 79 yards while Cam Newton passed for 270 yards along with two pass TD’s in the win for the Panthers.  On the other hand, Ryan Fitzpatrick was the one throwing interceptions in this matchup despite tossing four touchdown passes in the contest along with 243 yards.  Adam Humphries and O.J. Howard combined for four TD catches in this matchup, yet it was not enough.  They now look to get things back on track in facing a Redskins team that was destroyed by the passing game of the Atlanta Hawks in their last time out.

How Washington Redskins & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Washington is 5-3 ATS while the OU is 3-5

Tampa Bay is 3-5 ATS while the OU is 7-1

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for this game to be a battle within the trenches throughout.  The Redskins are at their best with a productive running game with Peterson.  However, the Bucs will certainly try to take this away in which to allow Smith to beat them on his arm alone.  In all, look for the Bucs to pass the ball with Fitzpatrick as he will look to utilize his many targets.  On the other hand, he must be able to cut down on turnovers to give his team a better chance to win and get out of their current slump.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  Tampa Bay Bucs -1.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the struggling Bucs due to their ability to stop the run thus far along with their ability to score the football so effectively.  Also, with the Redskins needing their running game to be effective, they may have difficulties in producing anything in this area versus Tampa’s defense.  With that being the case, I will back the Bucs and the points at home versus a Redskins team that was exposed in their last loss.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 51.5

My reason for the prediction :

One can expect the Washington defense to come out with much more focus after allowing 38 to Atlanta the week prior.  Also, expect the Bucs to give up some points as well within their porous passing defense, thus allowing me to take the over in this contest.  It has been the play in all but one of the matchups for the Bucs this year while being the result in last year’s matchup as well.  In all, look for these trends to continue this weekend amongst these two squads.
