Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

New York Giants vs San Francisco 49’ers

In a Monday night football matchup of the week, the struggling New York Giants will travel across the nation to battle the San Francisco 49’ers at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California, at 8:15 pm EST.  The Giants are losers of five straight games as their last lost came versus the Washington Redskins by a 20-13 score on October 28thEli Manning had 326 yards and a score, yet through two interceptions in the contest while the Giants also lost a fumble.

The Niners are coming off a confidence building win over the Oakland Raiders at home last Thursday night as Nick Mullins threw for 262 yards along with three TD passes in the 34-3 win while Raheem Mostart rushed for 86 yards and a score in the long-awaited victory for the Niners.  The last time these teams met, the Niners picked up the 31-21 home win on November 12, 2017 as they covered as three-point favorites.  The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

New York Giants 's Latest Performance :

The Giants are struggling within their rushing attack these days as the Giants have struggled with consistency across the board, particularly within the offensive line that make it much more difficult for the Giants to develop an effective running game.  Saquon Barkley has only had two games to where he rushed for over 100 yards and has not reached the fifty-yard mark in his last two outings.  Odell Beckham Jr continues to rack up the numbers as he had his second straight 100 or more-yard outing in the Giants loss to the Redskins in their last time out; However, with Manning only throwing for four TD passes next to five INT’s in the last few outings, they have struggled more than usual lately.  They look to correct their problems on the road, where they are 3-1 ATS, against a Niners team brimming with confidence after picking up their second win of the year.

The Defense for the Giants have also played much better recently in allowing just 21.5 points per game in the last two outings for New York.  This is much better than the 33 points per average that they gave up per outing in the three games prior.

San Francisco 49’ers 's Latest Performance :

The Niners ended their horrible stretch of losses in their last time out as they were able to not only get the victory, but, were sparked by Nick Mullins, who made his first start of the season in being a difference-maker in throwing three TD passes on the day.  Mostart put up also had a great game in the rushing attack while George Kittle had 109 receiving yards and a score in the victory.  Mostart left the game during to injury and is not certain to play in this matchup.

The offense for San Francisco, currently ranked 18th in averaging 23 points per game, put up 34 points total in the game while the defense only allowed 242 yards to the Raiders offense as Derek Carr passed for only 171 yards on the day while also shutting down the dismal rushing attack for Oakland.  The good part for the defense is that while they are allowing 27 points per game for the season, they are only giving up 11.5 points per game in their last two outings.

How New York Giants & San Francisco 49’ers Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

New York is3-5 ATS while the OU is 3-5

San Francisco is 3-6 ATS while the OU is 5-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will be another test for the Giants in which to get a much-needed win over a Niners team that has not only struggled, but, is ushering in a new quarterback as well.  It would be fair to note that the Giants have had a rough schedule this year with New Orleans, Carolina, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Washington to whom they would all fall to.  However, the Giants lost by seven points or less in three of those outings while defensive mishaps and offensive turnovers were the cause of their 10 or over losses to the Saints along with the Eagles.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:  New York Giants +3

My reason for the pick :

I will ride with the Giants in this contest as I happen to believe that they will pull themselves over the hill versus a Niners team that, despite their last win, will indeed struggle even more as the season wears on.  The Giant have suffered as well for that matter; however, they will certainly find success in the passing game once again versus a Niners pass secondary that giving up 250 yards per game.  And while they may find it difficult to run yet again this week, they will capitalize on their opportunities while cutting down on turnovers in covering the spread and quite possibly getting the win.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 43.5

My reason for the prediction :

San Francisco possesses the 5th ranked rushing attack in the league while New York is allowing 123 yards per game on the ground.  The Giants, on the other hand, is 9th in their passing attack for the season and will certainly challenge a San Francisco team that is 17th in the league in defending the pass.  Sounds like an over to me, particularly when you consider that the over has been the play in their last outing against each other.  In all, the over of 43.5 will indeed be a strong pick for this matchup.
