Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Minnesota Vikings vs Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears return to Soldier Field for a 2nd straight home game as they will welcome in the Minnesota Vikings for an NFC North clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 8:20 PM. The Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings have both caught steam over the recent weeks and this is lining up to be a huge matchup for first place in the division.
Minnesota Vikings's Latest Performance :
The Minnesota Vikings have been playing some of their best football as of recent and they are now coming off a bye which can make this team even more dangerous as Stefon Diggs, Dalvin Cook, and Anthony Barr got a chance to heal up their nagging injuries. The Vikings before the bye week took on the Detroit Lions at home where their defense prevailed in a 24-9 victory. Kirk Cousins and the offense never truly caught fire as the veteran QB only threw for 164 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. Despite Cousins having a down game to his standards, he has still played well this season as he has thrown for over 2685 yards, 17 TDs, and 5 interceptions. Cousins favorite target has been Adam Thielen who is on an absolute tear this season as the 28-year-old has racked up 947 yards and 7 TDs on the season. Thielen was unable to get loose in the Lions game as he was only held to 22 yards but he was able to add a TD to his name. The Vikings RBs have been extremely hit or miss this season but with Dalvin Cook back they look like they have taken another step as the 2nd-year pro rushed for 89 yards on 10 carries while adding 20 yards through the air. The defense played unreal against the Lions as they were able to sack Stafford 10 different times. DE Danielle Hunter led that charge for the Vikings as he contributed 3.5 sacks and 9 tackles which was one of the best performances in the NFL. Entering Anthony Barr back into the starting lineup should make this one of the best defenses in the NFL.
Chicago Bears's Latest Performance :
The young Chicago Bears have taken a step forward under Matt Nagy as they have found themselves ahead of arguably the toughest division of football and a huge reason for their success lies with their high-scoring offense and stingy defense. The Bears are coming off a nice home victory over the Lions as they were able to jump out ahead early and stay ahead the rest of the way. QB Mitchell Trubisky continued his season of excellence as the 24-year-old threw for 335 yards and 3 TDs while adding a rushing TD to his resume. Trubisky has flourished in the Nagy offense as he comes into this week totaling 2304 yards through the air with 19 TDs. The two-headed monster at RB has also been a benefit for this offense as Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen have combined for 1237 yards and 10 TDs from the line of scrimmage. The WRs really stepped up for Trubisky in this outing as veteran Allen Robinson brought down a team-high 6 catches for 133 yards and 2 TDs while rookie Anthony Miller added 5 catches for 122 yards and a TD. Trubisky has an abundance of playmakers on his hands at the skill positions as he currently has 4 different WRs with 400+ yards on the season. The defense has taken a huge leap for the Bears and that may be because they added former DPOY Khalil Mack. Mack asserted his dominance last weekend against the Lions by recording 5 tackles and 2 sacks which has extended his stat line to a team-high 7 sacks. The secondary was also solid for the Bears against the Lions as they were able to pick off Matthew Stafford 2 times.

My reason for the pick :
We have seen a lot of teams play well this season but the most intriguing to me is the Chicago Bears and I think they continue winning here as they play in one of the biggest games they have experienced over the last few years. The Bears are the only team in the NFL to have a top 5 offense as well as a top 5 defense and although Minnesota isn’t bad on both sides of the ball neither unit ranks in the top 10. The Bears have also played well at home this season and with this game being flexed into the primetime slot I expect the crowd to be fired up. Trubisky has been playing solid but the difference here will be Howard pounding the ball down the throat of Minnesota and then Cohen changing it up with his speed on the outside.
