Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints return home to Mercedes-Benz Superdome after playing on the road last week as they will welcome in the Philadelphia Eagles for an NFC clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 4:25 PM. The Saints are the hottest team in football while the Philadelphia Eagles are still trying to work out some kinks.
Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :
The Eagles have not looked like the 2017 Super Bowl Championship team that we saw last season and a huge part of that may be due to them having the injury bug on both sides of the ball. The Eagles are coming off a recent loss against their rivals in the Dallas Cowboys as their defense could not make the necessary stops when needed. QB Carson Wentz started the game off slow as he threw an interception first drive of the game but he settled in and showed us why he is one of the better QBs in the NFL. Wentz was able to throw for over 360 yards and 2 TDs with both of his passes connecting with his favorite target in TE Zach Ertz. Ertz and Wentz have hooked up for 75 catches for 789 yards and 5 TDs but Wentz depended on Ertz even more against the Cowboys as he racked up 14 catches for 145 yards and 1 TD. With RBs Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles on the sideline, the Eagles have had to turn to some younger guys which has led to a decrease of productivity on the ground. Josh Adams led the way for the Eagles with 7 carries for a total of 47 yards while Corey Clement and Wendall Smallwood combined for 7 carries for 17 yards. The defense has suffered a hit especially in the back end as CBs Ronald Darby, Jalen Mills, and Sidney Jones have all be dealing with injuries. LB Nigel Bradham led the way for the Eagles with 10 tackles which puts the 29-year-old at 51 tackles on the season. DE Michael Bennett had a big game for the Eagles as he was able to record 2 sacks and a big tackle on the goal line.
New Orleans Saints's Latest Performance :
The New Orleans Saints opened the season with an L but ever since the opening week of the season we have seen the high powered Saints offense put up points on anyone as well as put together 8 straight wins. The offense is led by 39-year-old Drew Brees who is having a career year as he is entering this game with over 2601 yards, 21 TDs, and more remarkably 1 interception. Brees was able to continue his hot start to 2018 by throwing for 265 yards and 3 TDs as well as lead the Saints to a 51-14 victory on the road over the Cincinnati Bengals. Brees is supported by a two-headed monster in the backfield as Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara bring two different styles of play to the table. Ingram was able to pick up 104 yards on 13 carries and 3 catches for 58 yards and 1 TD through the air while Kamara picked up 56 yards and 2 TDs on the ground and an additional 4 catches for 46 yards through the air. Ingram is just getting back into the groove of things after serving a suspension while Kamara has racked up over 1019 total yards and 14 TDs. Brees has relied on WR Michael Thomas all season long and the 25-year-old delivered once again as the former Ohio State Buckeye caught 8 passes for 70 yards and 2 TDs. The defense was high flying for the Saints last week against the Bengals as they were able to rack up 4 sacks and 2 interceptions. CB Marcus Williams was able to bring down his 2nd interception of the season as well as contribute 4 tackles.

Philadelphia ranks 6th in the NFL in team defense as they hold opponents to an average of 20.3 PPG while New Orleans ranks 23rd as opponents score an average of 25.8 PPG.
Against The Spread Selection: New Orleans Saints -8
My reason for the pick :
The New Orleans Saints are just money ATS and this is a spread I like especially after they just won by 1000 points on the road against a solid Cincinnati Bengals team. Drew Brees has this offense rolling right now as they rank 1st in the NFL in scoring and I think nothing changes in this game as the Cowboys showed the ability to expose the banged up secondary of the Eagles. The Saints are fairly healthy while the Eagles have too many injury concerns and if the Saints can beat the Rams by 10 they can beat the Eagles by 9 or more. Back the Saints at home.
Betting trends for Philadelphia Eagles:
- Philadelphia is 2-5 ATS against teams outside the NFC East this season.
