Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys

The Washington Redskins will travel to AT&T Stadium in Irving, Texas, to take on the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night at 4:30 p.m. eastern time. The Cowboys put themselves back into the race for the NFC East Crown by picking up a 22-19 road victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.  Ezekiel Elliott rushed for 122 yards for the game along with a score while Dak Prescott passed for 208 yards in the game while making some clutch throws late in the contest in which to give their kicker,Brett Maher, a chance to redeem himself after a horrible afternoon in sealing the victory with a 42-yard field goal to end the game.

After an Adrian Peterson touchdown run late in the game which put the Redskins up 21-20 versus the Houston Texans in their last outing, Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked a 54-yard field goal for the Houston Texans at the 7:53 mark in the fourth quarter which essentially turned out to be the game-winner in a 23-21 contest. On the other hand the Redskins season may indeed be over with their loss of Alex Smith due to a leg injury.  To add to this, Washington has lost two of their last three games, overall, and will be looking to somehow maintain their top-seeded position within the division by keeping a surging Dallas Cowboys team at bay on Thursday afternoon.

Washington Redskins's Latest Performance :

And while the defense for Washington remains within the top 10 in stopping the run, their pass defense has regressed a bit in allowing 262 yards per game in the air to their opponents at this time. Their defense was coming off of an outing to where they’re allowed only three points to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the week prior; However, allowed the surging Houston Texans to put up 23 points on their defense in their last outing en route to their second loss in three games.
And aside from the fact of Alex Smith being lost for the season with a severe leg injury, running back LaMichael Perrine is also day-to-day with a knee injury. In all, the team will have to depend on its rushing game with Adrian Peterson in order to get them through what will certainly be a rough patch of games to end the season without their lead signal-caller.  The problem is that the offense struggled with Alex Smith in the lineup as they were averaging only 18 points per game in their last five outings, overall. With Colt McCoy taking the reins under center, his progression will heavily dependent upon Washington’s ability to utilize Adrian Peterson in the most effective ways simply to take pressure off the QB.

Dallas Cowboys's Latest Performance :

The Dallas Cowboys have not only won three of their last five outings, but, have won two straight games, overall, with their last win coming on the road versus an Atlanta Falcons squad looking to also make some noise within the NFC South division. Unfortunately for the home team, the Dallas Cowboys had in answer for the high-powered offense of the Atlanta Falcons throughout the matchup as the Falcons were able to collect only 80 yards on the ground for the day while Matt Ryan threw for 291 yards, a TD, along with a pick in the game. Julio Jones had another exceptional day at receiver in racking up 110 yards and a touchdown in the loss, however Brett Maher kicked three field goals for the day with his last being a 42-yarder to seal the victory for the Dallas Cowboys in a much-needed win that put them back into the hunt for the NFC East crown.

The defense for the Cowboys was solid as they sacked Matt Ryan three times while only allowing the Falcons to put up 357 yards total for the game. On top of this, the Cowboys only allowed the Falcons to enter the red zone once, going 0-1 for the day. In all, they have allowed opponents to score an average of 18 points per game in their last five outings, overall.

How Washington Redskins & Dallas Cowboys Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Washington is 6-3 ATS while the OU is 3-6
Dallas is 4-5 ATS while the OU is 4-5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This will certainly be one of the more interesting games in the NFL this week. And this is not due to the fact that it is held on Thanksgiving Day, but more to the fact that these teams are battling for first place supremacy within the NFC East Division.  The Dallas Cowboys have garnered up some momentum in the past couple weeks and with their win over the Falcons last weekend, are ready too battle on the short week versus a Washington Redskins team that will be reeling with injuries coming into this matchup.

Washington, on the other hand, will come out to play in this matchup as their defense will certainly need to be the tip of the spear in getting a victory. As stated, with McCoy under center, look for Adrian Peterson to get the bulk of the carries in the backfield as Washington will certainly I need to rely on their rushing attack moving forward.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Dallas Cowboys -7.5

My reason for the pick :

And while I would like to think that the Redskins defense will perform as they did earlier in the season to allow the Redskins to come out with a victory in this matchup on Thursday afternoon, however, I will back the Dallas Cowboys in this instance in that they are not only playing well, but are playing well headed into a game versus a Redskins team that is beat up in suffering from critical injuries recently, with Alex Smith being the most pivotal. It is for this reason that the Dallas Cowboys will continue their onslaught on the ground (which has slowly begun to get better these past few weeks) onto a Redskins defense that may be solid against the rush, however, will certainly begin to succumb to the physicality of a tough, Dallas rushing attack in the end.

Totals Selection: Pick: Under 41

My reason for the prediction :

I will back the under in this matchup as I see both defenses performing pretty solid throughout the contest. On one hand, you have a Redskins defense that has played exceptional all year long yet may have to play that much harder due to the absence of their starting quarterback in Alex Smith. In other words the offenses for both teams will struggle in this matchup as Dallas, despite winning their last two games, continue to struggle with moving the ball at pivotal moments within games.
