Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints

The Atlanta Falcons will travel to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in New Orleans, Louisiana, to battle the top-seeded NFC South New Orleans Saints on Thursday night at  8:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. After winning three straight games, the Atlanta Falcons have now lost two straight  due to their 22-19 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. And while Julio Jones had a fantastic day receiving with 118 yards along with a TD catch, the rushing attack for the Cowboys were able to push the Falcons defense around throughout the game as Ezekiel Elliott racked up 122 yards on the ground to get the hard-fought victory for the visitors.

On the other hand, the New Orleans Saints are averaging well over 40 points per game in their last three outings as they disposed of the Philadelphia Eagles at home in their last win by a 48-7 score. Both the passing and rushing attack for New Orleans were clicking in this matchup as Drew Brees threw for four touchdown passes while Mark Ingram ran for two rushing touchdowns in the all-important victory. The under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in New Orleans amongst these teams while the Falcons are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven meetings in New Orleans. The last time these two teams met, the Saints picked up the 43-37 road win as  they scored late in the game to seal the victory.

Atlanta Falcons's Latest Performance :

While the  Atlanta Falcons have a very potent offensive attack with Ryan, Jones, along with Mohamed Sanu jr.,  their defense has certainly been a disappointment this year while also being the primary catalyst for the Falcons being two games under 500 at this time.  Matt Ryan threw for 291 yards, a TD, along with an interception in the lost to the Dallas Cowboys while Julio Jones had 118 yards along with a touchdown catch in the loss. On the other hand, the defense allowed the Dallas Cowboys’ Ezikiel Elliot to rack up 122 yards on the ground while also having a score. In all, the Cowboys were able to maintain possession throughout the game by delivering not only clutch passes from their quarterback, Dak Prescott, but, Elliott was also potent within the ground game as well as he continued to find daylight at critical moments with in the game.

New Orleans Saints 's Latest Performance :

As stated, the New Orleans Saints are on the high at this point in the season. They are not only comfortably ahead in the top seed with in the NFC South Division, but, are coming off their 7th straight win to where the majority of their games were decided by 11 or more points. Drew Brees threw for 363 yards along with four touchdown passes in his last outing versus the Philadelphia Eagles as his favorite target was Trequan Smith who ended the game with 157 yards and a TD in the win. As stated, Mark Ingram led the rushing attack with 103 yards along with two scores for the game while  Alvin Kamara had 71 yards rushing on the day.

The defensive front for the New Orleans Saints also remained solid as they allowed only 56 yards rushing for the Eagles during the contest while sacking Carson Wentz three times  on a day where he threw three interceptions.  In all, look for the New Orleans defense to attempt to neutralize Matt Ryan and the high-powered offense for the Atlanta Falcons in this match up on Thursday night as well.

How Atlanta Falcons & New Orleans Saints Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Atlanta is 3-7 ATS while the OU is 6-4

New Orleans is 8-2 ATS while the OU is 5-5

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Atlanta will certainly be looking to get back onto the field for this matchup as they will be looking to atone for a last-second loss not only to the Cowboys in their last outing, but, to the Saints as well as they had to endure earlier in the season. Nonetheless, if their defense continues to play inconsistent, they will certainly find themselves in a position to where they will pick up their third straight loss as the Saints will certainly bring the offense at home.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: New Orleans Saints -13

My reason for the pick :

While I happen to feel that the Falcons will indeed put some points up in this game,  I will have to back the New Orleans Saints with the points in this matchup as they have simply been outstanding on both sides of the ball thus far in the season. As stated, they totally punished the defensive  unit for a stout Eagles front early and often in last week’s matchup and they intend to do the same with a shaky Atlanta defense on Thursday night as well. Expect the Saints to come out throwing the ball while sealing the deal with a punishing rushing attack that is ranked 6th in the league with Ingram and Kamara.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over 59

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the over in this contest as  both teams will have solid nights within the passing attack as the Atlanta Falcons are currently ranked 20th in defending the pass while the Saints, despite their stout rush defense, is  allowing 280 yards per game to opposing passing offenses. With that being the case, look for the over to be the strong play in this matchup as Brees and Ryan will certainly serve to put more than enough points on the board in which to surpass the total.

Betting trends for Atlanta Falcons:

  • Over is 5-1 in Falcons last 6 games following a ATS loss.
Over is 4-1 in Falcons last 5 games following a straight up loss.
Falcons are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games.

Betting trends for New Orleans Saints :

  • New Orleans Under is 5-0-1 in Saints last 6 Thursday games.
Over is 4-0 in Saints last 4 vs. NFC South.
Saints are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.
