Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Chciago Bears vs Detroit Lions

The top-seeded Chicago Bears will travel to Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan,  to face the last place Detroit Lions on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Chicago  Bears continue to pick up wins as they were able to pick up a 25-20 win versus the Minnesota Vikings in their last outing. The Bears held the offense for the Vikings scoreless in the first half while allowing them just 268 yards in total offense for the game. And despite Mitch Trubisky throwing 2 interceptions on the night, the Bears were able to get 148 yards rushing for the game led by Jordan Howard with 63 yards on 18 carries  in which to pick up the much-needed victory.

On the other hand, the Lions have halted a three-game losing streak by picking up a slim, 20-19 win at home over the Carolina Panthers in their last time out. Despite being out gained in total yardage for the contest, the Lions were able to get 212 yards from Matthew Stafford along with a touchdown pass late in the game which put the Lions up 20-13 with 5 minutes remaining in the game.

Chciago Bears's Latest Performance :

In his last four starts, Mitch Trubisky has thrown seven touchdown passes compared to three interceptions for the Chicago Bears. With that being the case, despite Trubisky throwing two picks in his last outing versus the Minnesota Vikings, the quarterback was able to regroup in which to assist his team in getting the hard-fought win in the end. As stated, Trubisky ended the game with only 165 yards passing while the rushing attack for the Bears put up 145 yards on the ground for the night with Trubisky having 43 yards rushing, overall.  Of course, Howard had the bulk for the rushing game for the Bears.  So, the Chicago Bears continue to find themselves within the top seed within the NFC North division, as stated.  And while their offense has been dismal at times during the season, they can certainly attribute their defense to their continued winning ways.

The Bears defense is currently rankedIn the top 10 in total yards average per game, total passing yards allowed per game, along with total rush yards allowed per game as well. Also, the Bears defense is only allowing 19.5 points per game to their opponents in 2018, thus allowing them to maintain their stronghold on the top spot.

Detroit Lions 's Latest Performance :

The Detroit Lions certainly halted their current winning streak in exciting fashion versus the Carolina Panthers last Sunday. With the score being tied 13 all, Matthew Stafford found Kenny Golladay in the end-zone for a passing TD which put the Lions up by 7 with 5 minutes remaining. Nonetheless, the Panthers came back and scored on a Cam Newton touchdown pass; However,  instead of going for the tie, the Panthers went for the two-point conversion for the win and could not convert, thus allowing Detroit to get the hard-fought victory in the end. Kerryon Johnson led the rushing attack with 87 yards along with a touchdown in the wind for Detroit while Golladay led the receiving corps with 113 yards along with a TD catch.  Unfortunately, Johnson may not suit up for this matchup due to injury.

On the other hand, the Panthers were able to rack up 387 yards in total offense for the game, however,  Cam Newton was sacked 3 times in the loss despite throwing for 357 yards, a TD, along with a pick in the contest. Finally, the Lions only allowed 56 yards rushing to a potent Carolina offensive attack.

How Chciago Bears & Detroit Lions Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Chicago is 7-3 ATS while the OU is 7-3

Detroit is 6-4 ATS while the OU is 6-4

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

These teams only met two weeks ago to where the Chicago Bears would pick up the 34-22 home win as they also covered as 7.5 point home favorites.  In this game, the Bears outscored the Lions 26-7 in the first half while cruising to the victory behind 355 yards for Mitch Trubisky along with three touchdown passes.  Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller were both the stars of the receiving corps in this matchup as they racked up over 100 yards each for the game. In all, it will be interesting to see how the Bears are able to take advantage of opportunities within Detroit’s shaky pass defense. On the other hand, the Lions will certainly bring into the game some momentum of their own with their last win over the Panthers.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Detroit Lions +3.5

My reason for the pick :

The Detroit Lions are 3-1 against the spread in their last for home games while the Chicago Bears are only 1-3 in their last four road games against spread. With that being said, I will back the Lions in which to cover the points in this match up as I happen to feel as though they gained much confidence by standing up to a very potent rushing attack in the Panthers in which to get the hard-fought victory in their last time out. Of course  the Chicago Bears will also come into this matchup with momentum of their own however, look for the home team to find a way in which to keep this game close while covering in the end.

Totals Selection: Pick: Over

My reason for the prediction :

The over was the play two weeks ago when these two teams met, and I happen to believe that this will be the case in this contest as well.   The under has been the result in three of the last four games for Chicago on the road while it has also been the play in three of the last four home games for the Detroit Lions. And all, with a stout Chicago defense going up against Matthew Stafford and a jekyll-and-hyde offense for the Lions compared with an inconsistent offense for the Bears going up against an average defensive lineup for the Lions, look for the under to certainly be the strong play in this matchup on Thursday afternoon.

Betting trends for Chciago Bears:

  • Over is 5-0 in Bears last 5 games following a straight up win.
Over is 4-0 in Bears last 4 games following a ATS win.
Bears are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

Betting trends for Detroit Lions :

  • Detroit Lions are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Over is 6-1 in Lions last 7 Thursday games.
Over is 5-1 in Lions last 6 vs. a team with a winning record.
