New England Patriots vs New York Jets
The New York Jets return home to MetLife Stadium where they will welcome in the New England Patriots for an AFC East clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM. The Jets are coming off a much-needed bye week after a loss while the Patriots are continuing their climb to be the top team in the AFC.
New England Patriots's Latest Performance :
The Patriots are looking to continue their success through the final stretch of the season with the possibility of securing home-field advantage but their latest outing against the Tennesee Titans showed there is still work to be done. The Patriots offense was kept silent for most of the game especially star QB Tom Brady as he was able to complete 21 of his 41 passes for a total of 254 yards but the problem was he was unable to see the end zone. Tom Brady has been the reason for the Patriots success over the last 2 decades but his stats aren’t impressive as we have seen in previous years as he has only thrown for 2748 yards, 17 TDs, and 7 interceptions. The Patriots received back their starting RB in Sony Michael but he was unable to give them the spark they needed as he only gained 31 yards on 11 carries. The lone TD of the game came from FB James Develin who punched in a 1-yard carry. Tom Brady has missed one of his top targets in Rob Gronkowski who is listed as probable for their upcoming matchup against the Jets. Brady was forced to rely on Julian Edelman and Josh Gordan which isn’t a terrible thing as the duo combined for 185 yards on 13 catches but outside of them there was little to no production out of WRs. The defense for the Patriots was unable to stop the Tennessee offense as they let them score 34 points. LB Kyle Van Noy had a big outing for the Patriots as he was able to compile 12 tackles while Elandon Roberts and Stephon Gilmore contributed a sack each.
New York Jets 's Latest Performance :
The New York Jets got their bye week at a necessary time after they got the doors blown off them at home on 11/11 against the Buffalo Bills 41-10. The Jets were without their rookie QB Sam Darnold as he went down with an injury against the Miami Dolphins which forced Todd Bowles to start veteran Josh McCowan. The 39-year-old showed he wasn’t game ready in this showdown as he was only able to throw for 135 yards and 2 interceptions. Sam Darnold has not been a top QB by any standards as he has thrown 14 interceptions compared to only 11 TDs which needs to improve if the Jets want to improve. The ground game was almost non-existent against the Bills as the Jets top RB Isaiah Crowell was held to only 19 yards and a TD on 7 carries. Backup RBs Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon were able to break through for a little more wiggle room as the duo combined for 60 yards on 10 carries. The Jets pass catchers were kept silent in their latest outing as TE Christopher Herndon led the team with 34 yards and 3 catches. Robby Anderson has been the Jets top pass catcher all season long but he was kept out of this matchup with an ankle injury which left the Jets digging deep into the depth chart. The defense for the Jets got shredded by a QB who only had 1 previous start in his career and allowed LeSean McCoy to run free all game long. LB Avery Williamson and Darron Lee had a busy day for the Jets as they combined for 22 tackles while Jamal Adams and Jordan Jenkins combined for a sack.

My reason for the pick :
Both teams are coming into this game with fresh legs as they are coming off bye weeks but the difference in this game is the fact that the New England Patriots have something to play for. The Patriots air game was held in check by the Titans last game but don’t let that fool you as Tom Brady and company should be humming against the Jet defense that just gave up 41 points to Matt Barkley. There is still uncertainty who will start at QB for the Jets but no matter who is at the helm we will see turnovers. Take The Patriots to win on the road convincingly.
