Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles return home to Lincoln Financial Field where they will take on the New York Giants in an NFC East clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM. The Philadelphia Eagles want to return back to their 2017 super bowl ways while the Giants are still looking to find their identity.
New York Giants's Latest Performance :
The New York Giants have failed to find their identity this season as they looked like they were tanking before the trade deadline but now look like they are fighting to win out as they have won 2 straight games. The Giants won their recent home matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they won 38-35 behind a big offensive day. QB Eli Manning was able to put together a nice game last weekend as he threw for 231 yards and 2 TDs but more remarkably he completed 17 of his 18 passes which gives the 37-year-old 2795 yards, 13 TDs, and 6 interceptions on the season. The biggest game came out of rookie RB Saquon Barkley as he was able to rush for 142 yards and 2 TDs on 27 carries which pushes his season total to 728 yards and 7 TDs, Barkley also added a receiving TD to his resume. The Giants top WR in Odell Beckham Jr. has benefited the most out of Eli Manning playing better as he added 74 yards and a TD on 4 catches. Beckham is just shy of the 1000-yard mark on the season despite the offensive struggles as he currently has 932 yards and 5 TDs through the first 11 weeks. TE Evan Ingram showed big-play capabilities as he had 66 yards on 2 catches which gives him 11.2 YPC on the season. The defense unloaded a few of their good players at the trade deadline and it showed in this game as they gave up 35 points to the Bucs. LB Alec Ogletree had the biggest game out of any Giants defender as he had 9 tackles and an interception while B.W. Webb, Curtis Riley and Michael Thomas all added an interception.
Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :
The Philadelphia Eagles came into this season as one of the favorites to win the super bowl but 2 straight losses puts this team towards the bottom of the division in what will be an uphill climb. The Eagles got embarrassed on the road in their recent matchup as the New Orleans Saints ran over them 48-7. Franchise QB Carson Wentz did not look like the 2017 MVP candidate we know as he was only able to throw for 156 yards and 3 interceptions which gives him 2304 yards, 15 TDs, and 6 interceptions on the season. If there was one bright spot to make out of the Eagles offense in this 7 point showing it is the fact that undrafted rookie RB Josh Adams has continued to show development. Adams was able to rush for 56 yards and a TD on 7 carries which is the first TD of his career. The Eagles have gone all the way down their depth chart this season as Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles have both been on the rack. The WRs for the Eagles were unable to get much wiggle room against the Saints secondary as no one cracked the 50-yard mark. Newly acquired WR Golden Tate led the way for the Eagles with 48 yards on 5 catches while top pass catcher Zach Ertz was held in check with only 15 yards on 2 catches. The defense for the Eagles got shredded by the top-ranked scoring offense in the NFL as they gave up 48 points. The Eagles were unable to force Drew Brees into turning the ball over nor did they get home and record a sack on him but DBs Malcolm Jenkins and Corey Graham had 9 tackles each.

Against The Spread Selection: Philadelphia Eagles -5.5
My reason for the pick :
I am siding with the Philadelphia Eagles in this matchup as they should be able to reset their minds after last weekend and start a fresh page at home. Carson Wentz is in a dire need of a big game and there is no one better to do it against than the Giants secondary who gave up 35 points to a combination of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jameis Winston. The Eagles defense is depleted with injuries especially in the secondary but they have a strong pass rush and if they are able to get home to Eli Manning a few times they have a good shot at winning this game. I will be siding with the Eagles and the spread at home in a must-win game.
