Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Chicago Bears vs New York Giants
The New York Giants return home to MetLife Stadium after playing on the road last week and they will welcome in the Chicago Bears in an NFC matchup, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM. The Giants are going through a down year while the Bears are riding a 5 game win streak.
Chicago Bears's Latest Performance :
The Chicago Bears have put themselves in the talks of being a top team in the NFC after continuing their win streak on Thanksgiving with a backup QB against a division rival. QB Mitchell Trubisky was sidelined in this matchup due to a shoulder injury which prompted the Bears to turn to veteran backup Chase Daniel. Daniel worked with Nagy in Kansas City and has a good understanding of the offense which he showed against the Lions as he threw for 230 yards and 2 TDs. Trubisky is expected back this week after recovering from his injury which makes this team that more dangerous as he has thrown for 2469 yards, 20 TDs, and 9 interceptions while adding 363 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. The Bears were limited in their ground attack against the Lions as top RB Jordan Howard only ran for 13 yards on 7 carries. Jordan Howard isn’t putting up big numbers but the 24-year-old has rushed for over 590 yards and 5 TDs on the season which is way above the amount of production he contributed against the Lions. Chase Daniel showed the ability to spread the ball around to a few different WRs as 8 different guys caught a pass. RB Tarik Cohen had arguably the best game out of any pass catcher as he racked up 7 catches for 45 yards and a TD. The reason the Bears have been so successful this season can be accredited to their defense as they are one of the best in the league. Rookie LB Roquan Smith had a good outing against the Lions as he racked up 11 tackles and a sack while Eddie Jackson picked off a pass and returned it for a TD.
New York Giants's Latest Performance :
The New York Giants were doomed from the beginning of the season but after losing as time expired against the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend the Giants will not finish with a winning record once again. QB Eli Manning has looked improved over the last few weeks and the veteran showed that against the Eagles as he threw for 297 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception. Manning has not been able to throw as many TDs as we have seen in years past but the 37-year-old has thrown for 3093 yards, 14 TDs, and 7 interceptions on the season. A huge reason for the Giants success can be accredited to RB Saquon Barkley as the rookie has been a factor out of the backfield in both the passing game and run game. Barkley was able to compile 101 yards and a TD on the ground while adding 7 catches for 41 yards and a TD. Barkley is one of the top backs this season as the former Penn State Nittany Lion has compiled 1410 scrimmage yards and 12 TDs. The WR group for the Giants is talented but they have been hit or miss this season due to the level of inconsistency from Eli Manning. Star WR Odell Beckham Jr. led the way for the Giants with 5 catches for 85 yards which gives the 26-year-old 1000+ yards for the 4th time in his 5 year career. The defense for the Giants has been depleted by injuries and trades which is a reason they have shown little fight. Safety Landon Collins is playing at an All-Pro level and he contributed to his resume by racking up 9 tackles while Tae Davis, Mario Edwards, and Alec Ogletree contributed a sack each.

Against The Spread Selection: Chicago Bears -4.5
My reason for the pick :
This line is awfully low considering the amount of success the Bears have had this season and with the playoffs in mind, I don’t think they slip up anytime soon. The Bears are the only team in the NFL with a top 5 offense and a top 5 defense which proves to be problematic for teams like the Giants who rank in the bottom 10 of offense and defense. With Trubisky back in the lineup, the Bears are in good shape as the young QB has elevated his play this season with a ton of weapons around him. The major difference in this game is the Bears defense who will bring a ton of pressure and either sack Eli Manning or force him into mistakes against a good secondary. The Giants have failed to cover the spread in their first 5 home games and I think that will continue here. Take the Bears.
