Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars return home to TIAA Bank Field after playing on the road and they will welcome in the Indianapolis Colts for an AFC South clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM. The Jaguars are enduring a rough stretch of games and are assured of not having a winning season while Indianapolis is one of the hottest teams in football.
Indianapolis Colts's Latest Performance :
The Indianapolis Colts are one of the hottest teams in the NFL right now and find themselves in prime position to snag the 2nd Wild Card spot after they have put together 5 straight wins. The Colts came from behind against the Dolphins to win 27-24 after veteran Adam Vinatieri kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired. The Colts are led by QB Andrew Luck who despite two sloppy interceptions before the end of the 1st half had an overall solid outing. Luck was able to complete 30 of his 37 passes for over 343 yards and 3 TDs which gives him 3112 yards, 32 TDs, and 11 interceptions on the season. RB Marlon Mack was once again a force out of the backfield as he was able to pick up 85 yards on the ground but he left the game early with a concussion. Mack leads the team in rushing with 556 yards and 4 TDs but he has some capable backups as Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines have combined for 601 yards and 2 TDs. Andrew Luck showed the ability to spread the ball around to an abundance of targets as he had 9 different guys record a catch in this game. The top WR on the Colts T.Y. Hilton was able to break the 100-yard back with 7 catches for 125 yards while TE Eric Ebron recorded 2 TDs which gives him 11 on the season. The defense has shown the ability to make the necessary stops when needed and they played fairly well against the Dolphins. Rookie LB Darius Leonard led the way for the Colts with 10 tackles which gives him a team-high 114 tackles on the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars's Latest Performance :
The Jacksonville Jaguars looked like a surefire bet to return back to the AFC Championship game after their season last year but after their loss to the Buffalo Bills last week the Jags are now riding a 7 game losing streak. The Jaguars made some moves on 11/26 as they fired their OC Nathaniel Hackett as well as benched their starting QB in Blake Bortles. Blake Bortles had yet another sloppy game against the Bills as he threw for 127 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. The Jaguars will enter backup QB Cody Kessler into the lineup who has thrown for 1662 yards, 7 TDs, and 4 interceptions in 13 career games. The Jaguars offense has been based off 2nd year RB Leonard Fournette and the former LSU Tiger looked good against the Bills as he ran for 95 yards and 2 TDs but a late-game fight has led to the NFL suspending Fournette for a game. The Jaguars will have to rely on Carlos Hyde and T.J. Yeldon in this game which aren’t bad options as both backs have been starters in the past years. 2nd year WR Dede Westbrook was the Jaguars leading WR against the Bills as he brought down 3 catches for 44 yards and a TD. The Jaguars defense has looked sluggish at times this year especially considering the talent level they possess on their unit. LB Telvin Smith had a big game for the Jags as he compiled 9 tackles but the speedy pass rush was unable to record a sack and the secondary wasn’t able to come up with a turnover.

My reason for the pick :
This line has me scratching my head as I feel like this is too good to be true as Jacksonville has lost 7 straight and are starting a backup QB and without their star RB while Indianapolis has won 5 straight games and has a humming offense. The Colts defense has been as average as it gets but the Jacksonville offense is one of the worst in the league and I just can’t trust them to keep this game within a field goal of one of the top offenses in the league. Andrew Luck is playing at an elite level right now despite too many big name WRs and I expect him to have a great game in this outing as the Jags should give him solid field position all season long. Take the Colts on the road.
