Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Arizona Cardinals vs Green Bay Packers
The Arizona Cardinals will travel to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Sunday afternoon to take on the Green Bay Packers beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Cardinals continue to struggle on both sides of the ball as they dropped their third straight game last Sunday versus the Los Angeles Chargers by a 45-10 score on the road. Despite going up 10-0 after the first quarter, the Chargers proceeded to score 45 unanswered points led by 3 passing touchdowns by Philip Rivers along with two rushing touchdowns by Melvin Gordon III to seal the blowout victory for the Chargers.
The Green Bay Packers have also lost two straight as their offense continues to struggle as they were 24 – 17 Road losers to the Minnesota Vikings in their last outing, thus preventing the Packers from moving into second place within the NFC North division. Aaron Rodgers threw for only 198 yards and a touchdown while being sacked four times in the loss for Green Bay.
Arizona Cardinals's Latest Performance :
Recently, the Arizona Cardinals were allowing teams to score an average of 19 points during the span of 3 games. However, the defense for Arizona certainly regressed in their last time out as they allowed Philip Rivers and the offense for the Los Angeles Chargers to run roughshod over their defense last Sunday. As stated, Rivers threw three touchdown passes for the game while racking up 259 yards while Gordon III finished with 10 rushes for 61 yards along with two rushing TDs. On the other hand, Josh Rosen only threw for 105 yards in the air along with a TD and an interception while the rushing attack for the Cardinals obtained 62 yards from David Johnson , who has been their leading rusher on the year with 692 yards.
Nonetheless, the Cardinals continue to find themselves unable to find the end zone as their offense is putting up only 15 points per game in their last 6 outings. In fact, the Cardinals have only reached 20 or more points in only one of their last six games, overall. They will certainly like to curb these trends in this matchup as the Packers have essentially opened the floodgates for teams to score as they have not been able to defend the run at all this season in ranking 23rd in the league.
Green Bay Packers's Latest Performance :
The season continues to get worse and worse for the Green Bay Packers in that they not only have a record of 4-6-1 for the year, but, their 10th rank passing attack has failed to put points on the board in 2018 as the Packers are only averaging 25 per game. In fact, in their last two losses, the Green Bay Packers have only put up 16 points per outing while the defense has given up 26 points during this time. As stated, Rodgers threw for only one touchdown pass along with 198 yards in their last outing while the rushing attack only mustard 82 yards in the loss led by Aaron Jones rushed for 72 yards along with a touchdown for the Packers. Davante Adams also had 69 yards receiving along with the one and only touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers in the loss for Green Bay as the offense was plagued with mistakes while also being pressured throughout the game by the Minnesota Vikings.
To pick up some wins moving forward, the Green Bay Packers will certainly need to shore up deficiencies on the offense while also improving upon vulnerabilities on the defensive side as well. They will likely get back on the winning track versus an Arizona team that has been much worse this year on the offensive side while also becoming cannon fodder for opponents passing attack lately, as well.
How Arizona Cardinals & Green Bay Packers Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Arizona is 5 – 5 – 1 ATS while the OU is 5 – 6
Green Bay is 4 – 6 – 1 ATS while the OU is 6 – 5
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be an interesting matchup as the Green Bay Packers would love to come out of their present funk in picking up a much-needed win while the Arizona Cardinals are simply looking for some positive momentum to go their way after a disastrous season to where their offense has simply not been able to remain consistent. Despite this, look for both teams to come out focused on obtaining some type of momentum moving forward as both teams are out of the playoff equation at this point. In all, both the Packers and the Cardinals will simply want to finish the season on a strong note with a win.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Green Bay Packers - 14
My reason for the pick :
Look for the Packers to get back on the winning track with a solid performance versus a defensive unit for Arizona that cannot seem to stop anyone these days. Of course, a game such as this will allow Rogers & Company to get themselves back on track for the remaining four games of the season as they will have games versus Atlanta and Detroit at home while having road games versus the Chicago Bears along with the New York Jets to round out the 2018 campaign.
Totals Selection: Pick: Over 44.5
My reason for the prediction :
I will pick the over to be the play in this contest in that the Green Bay Packers will certainly find success versus a porous past secondary of the Arizona Cardinals in this contest. Again, Green Bay has been in a funk offensively in the past couple weeks and we’ll certainly use this opportunity as a time to shore up their passing game for the remaining games on their schedule. With that being the case, look for the total to surpass it set limit as Aaron Rodgers will show and prove while Green Bay will continue to hold onto their playoffs hopes.
