Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Buffalo Bills vs Miami Dolphins
The Buffalo Bills will travel to Hard Rock arena in Miami, Florida, to battle the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. And while both these teams started off the season in totally different directions, this has remained to be so as the Bills, after beginning the season with a record of 2-7, have won two straight games with their last being over a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team by a 24-21 score. Josh Allen was certainly a huge catalyst in the win in throwing for 160 yards along with a touchdown while also rushing for a touchdown on 99 yards on the ground in the victory.
On the other hand, the Miami Dolphins, who began the season at 4-2, have lost two straight games with their last being a 27-24 road loss to the Indianapolis Colts in their last time out as their pass secondary was torched by Andrew Luck who threw for 343 yards along with three touchdowns in the win for the home team. The Bills picked up the 22-16 road win the last time these two teams met on December 31st of last year. In fact, the Bills have covered the spread in 7 of the last 10 games versus the Miami Dolphins while the under has been to play in five of the last six games, overall.
Buffalo Bills 's Latest Performance :
The Bills, despite their issues all season long, come into this matchup winners of two straight, as stated, and are indeed looking for yet another win over a struggling Miami team. Much of their winning ways can be credited to their quarterback, Josh Allen, who took the team on his back in their last outing by throwing for a touchdown pass while rushing for a TD also in their win versus the Jacksonville Jaguars at home last weekend. Robert Foster led the receiving corps with 94 yards along with a TD catch in the win as well.
The 15th ranked rush defense, on the other hand, for Buffalo allowed the Jaguars to rush for 226 yards on the ground led by Leonard fournette, who ran for two touchdowns on 95 yards for the game. Despite the 21 points, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Buffalo is truly playing much better at this juncture in the season than they were earlier. With that being the case, look for them to really focus in on continuing to do what they do well, particularly on offense as Allen may indeed be progressing into a dual-threat quarterback for the Bills.
Miami Dolphins's Latest Performance :
The Dolphins have lost three of their last four games and their lack of a consistent offense can certainly be blamed for their slide. The Miami offense is only put up an average of 19 points per game in their last four outings while the defense has allowed 26 points per game on average to opponents during their current slide. And while Ryan Tannehill threw two touchdown passes in his return after an injured shoulder, the fact remains that the Miami offense continues to struggle consistently.
They were only able to rack up 113 yards on the ground with Frank Gore having 64 of those while the receiving corps was led by Leonte Carroo who had only one reception for 74 yards and a touchdown along with Kenyan Drake, who finished with five receptions for 64 yards along with a TD. And while the defense collected two interceptions off Andrew Luck for the night, he threw for over 300 yards along with three TDs for the game, as stated, as Ty Hilton also had a great night receiving for Indianapolis and racking up 125 yards on seven catches. In all, the dolphins are reeling on both sides at this point in the season and will certainly like to take advantage of the schedule in which to pick up a win versus Buffalo this weekend.
How Buffalo Bills & Miami Dolphins Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Buffalo is 5 – 6 ATS while the OU is 5 – 6
Miami is 6 – 5 ATS while the OU is 5 – 6
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be an important matchup for both teams as the Bills will look to extend their winning ways while Miami will be looking to come out of their present funk with a win. Miami has been a much better home team this year and despite winning their last road game, Buffalo has been awful on the road, as one can expect. Nonetheless, both teams will attempt to put it all behind in an effort to pick up a much-needed win on Sunday.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Buffalo Bills + 4.5
My reason for the pick :
As stated, the Dolphins have been a much better home team than they have been on the road this season and will certainly bring the focus and intensity to this matchup versus the Buffalo Bills. On the other hand, the Bills have been terrible on the season on the road as well as at home; However, won their last road game and will certainly bring the momentum of their last two outings into Hard Rock Stadium in which to perform solidly while possibly picking up the outright win versus a struggling Dolphins team that seemingly can not get things right on the offensive end.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 40
My reason for the prediction :
I will back the under in this contest particularly with both offenses having a tendency to struggle at times throughout ball games. As I stated, Miami is currently having problems in this area as they have had to endure inconsistent play under center from Tannyhill along with Osweiler while having no semblance of a running game in which to rely on. On the other hand, Josh Allen continues to shine for the Bills, however, possesses no running game to speak up as well. In all, look for the total to remain low in what will be a competitive matchup on Sunday.
