Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers will travel to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington, to battle the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Standard time. The San Francisco 49ers come into this matchup losers of two straight games as they folded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road by a 27 – 9 score as  Nick Mullens through two picks with a touchdown pass in the matchup while being sacked four times by the Buccaneers defense in the contest.

The Seattle Seahawks, on the other hand, come into this game with much momentum as they have won two straight games after edging the Carolina Panthers on the road by a 30-27 score. In this matchup, Russell Wilson threw for over 300 yards as one of his two touchdown passes on the night tied the game at 27 all before a Sebastian Janikowski field goal sealed the victory for Seattle in the end.

These two teams last matched up on November 26th 2017 as Seattle took the 24-13 road win while covering as 7 point road favorites. In all, the 49ers are 1-5-1 against the spread in the last seven meetings in Seattle while the under has been to play in eight of the last 11 meetings amongst these two teams.

San Francisco 49ers 's Latest Performance :

The 49ers have won only two games on the season and are struggling coming into this match up with Seattle after they were destroyed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their last outing in only being able to put up 9 points for the day.  Nick Mullens threw for a 221 yards along with a TD pass to Dante Pettis, who ended the game with 77 yards on 4 receptions, while Matt breida led the team in rushing with 106 yards as the Niners were able to muster 148 yards on the ground for the game.

On the other hand, the defense allowed Tampa Bay to rack up 108 yards on the ground while also allowing Jameis Winston to throw for 312 yards along with two TDs in the loss. This has been the mantra for San Francisco all season long as their offense has struggled due to the Garoppolo injury and has never recovered.  Its defense, on the other hand, has also been a disappointment as they are currently ranked in the top 15 in the league in stopping the past as well as the run; However, have really been terrible lately in allowing teams to carve up their defensive secondary, at will.

Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :

After their bye week, the Seattle Seahawks have won three of their last five games and two straight after beating up on the Carolina Panthers last weekend as Russell Wilson put the team on his back while picking up the much-needed victory in the meantime. As stated, Wilson found David Moore for a 35-yard touchdown pass to tie  what was a competitive game throughout at 27 all with 3:26 remaining in the game, thus allowing for Sebastian Janikowski to kick a 31-yard field goal en route to the huge road victory.

And while their defense has been up and down during their outstanding streak of play, the offense for Seattle can be the primary catalyst for the team turning their season around. Russell Wilson has thrown for at least 200 yards  in four of the last five games while his touchdown to interception ratio stands at 12 – 1 during this time. Running back Chris Carson has scored a touchdown in each of his last two outings as the Seahawks possesses the number one ranked rushing attack in the league. In all, they will love for this momentum to continue versus a San Francisco team that has seemingly threw in the towel for 2018.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

It will be interesting to see how the San Francisco 49ers fare in the rushing game in this matchup as Seattle is only ranked 22nd in the league in stopping the run while San Francisco remains to be an outstanding rushing team as they hold the 5th ranked rushing attack in the NFL in averaging 135 yards per game on the ground.  In all, look for this to be yet another exciting NFL contest this weekend as the Seahawks will love to continue their winning ways at home versus a struggling Niners squad.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Seattle Seahawks - 10

My reason for the pick :

I will pick the Seattle Seahawks in this contest in which to cover the spread as they come into this game on a high after their win on the road versus the Panthers in their last outing. On the other hand, San Francisco is winless on the road in 2018 and with them ushering in a new quarterback in Mullins under center, look for them to struggle in this matchup as well as Seattle will pull away late in the game while covering the spread.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Over 46

My reason for the prediction :

The over has been the play in three of the last five games for the Arizona Cardinals while also being the result in two of the last three games for Seattle. And when one  adds to the equation that the pass defense for San Francisco has struggled recently along with the past offense for Seattle really stepping things up a bit, one can conclude that Russell Wilson and Company will certainly have a decent night on the offensive end. With that being the case, the over is indeed the strong play in this matchup.
