Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Washington Redskins vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Washington Redskins will travel to Lincoln Financial Field  in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a Monday night matchup versus their division foe in the Philadelphia Eagles beginning at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The last time these two teams met was on October 23rd 2017, as the Eagles picked up the 34-24 home win while also covering as 5-point favorites.

Both teams have had to endure a rough patch recently as the Washington Redskins suffered a 31 – 23 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys as Dak Prescott along with Ezekiel Elliott was credited with four touchdowns total in the game while Colt McCoy struggled for the Redskins under center in throwing three interceptions on the night. On the other hand, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to halt a 2 game losing streak by picking up a 25-22 home win over the New York Giants as Carson Wentz threw for a 236 yards along with a TD while the rushing attack for the Eagles racked up 127 yards for the game led by Josh Adams finishing with  84 yards along with a touchdown.

The Redskins have covered the spread in six of the last 8 meetings versus the Philadelphia Eagles while the over has been the play in the last four meetings at Lincoln Financial Field.

Washington Redskins's Latest Performance :

The Washington Redskins are in second place within the NFC east division with an outside chance to win the crown only if they are able to pick up a win this weekend as well as win out in the next couple weeks. Colt McCoy struggled under center in place of Alex Smith in his last outing versus the Dallas Cowboys in throwing for 236 yards along with two touchdown passes, yet, threw 3 interceptions in the game.  The rushing attack was non-existent as Adrian Peterson rushed 12 times for only 30 yards in the game.

The defense, on the other hand, allowed the Cowboys Ezekiel Elliott to rush for 121 yards on the ground along with a TD while Dak Prescott passed for two huge touchdown passes to Amari Cooper, who ended the game with 180 yards receiving to lead the Cowboys. As stated, Washington can indeed when the NFC East this year however, they will certainly have to show and prove versus the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in this matchup on Sunday. However, with the Eagles suddenly flying high, once again, after a much-needed win, a victory for the Redskins will be that much more difficult in the end.

Philadelphia Eagles's Latest Performance :

The Eagles are in third place with in the NFC East Division and will certainly need a win versus the Redskins this weekend to advance to the second place slot behind the Dallas Cowboys. They will certainly be coming in with momentum as they picked up the  25 – 22  home win over the New York Giants as the victory certainly was not their prettiest; However, a 43-yard field goal by Jake Elliott was the difference as it broke a 22 all tie late in the game to seal the victory for the Eagles. As stated, Carson Wentz only passed for 236 yards while throwing a TD to Zach Ertz, who ended the game with 91 yards on seven receptions. Also, Adams was also instrumental in the win as he picked up some critical runs late in the game to maintain possession for Philadelphia.

The 11th ranked rush defense for the Eagles gave up 101 yards to Saquon Barkley in the game while Eli Manning threw for 297 yards along with a TD and an interception in the game as the Giants continue to drop games in 2018. Of course, the Eagles will certainly be looking to extend their winning streak versus a Redskins team that is reeling at this point due primarily to injuries to Alex Smith.

How Washington Redskins & Philadelphia Eagles Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Washington is 7 – 4 ATS while the OU is  5 – 6

Philadelphia is 3 – 8 ATS while the OU is  4 – 7

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Look for both these teams to come out focused on getting an all important victory in this matchup as it will not only serve to  allow them to obtain even more confidence moving forward, but, also give one team the inside track as far as catching the Cowboys in the division. With that being the case, look for this game to be a defensive-minded contest as both offenses have struggled lately and will likely do so versus defenses that will be looking to atone for lackluster outings last weekend.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:Philadelphia Eagles - 6.5

My reason for the pick :

I will back the Eagles in this matchup as I happen to see the Redskins struggling once again with Colt McCoy under center for this contest. Combine this with the fact that the Eagles did not perform well on the defensive side of the ball versus the New York Giants in their last outing, and one would come to the conclusion that Philadelphia is certainly in for a solid night, all around, in this matchup. Look for Wentz to perform much better for the Eagles as well as he threw for less than 200 yards versus New York and will now be faced with finding opportunities within the 23rd ranked defense for Washington, that is allowing opponents 260 yards passing per game.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 44

My reason for the prediction :

And while I happen to believe that the Eagles will certainly put some points  on the scoreboard in this matchup, I will also back the under in this matchup as I happen to believe that the total will not surpass its set limit due to the fact that the Eagles defense, who I happen to believe will control the line of scrimmage, will indeed show and prove in a game that they desperately need in which to make a run at the NFC East crown.
