Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Carolina Panthers vs Cleveland Browns

The Carolina Panthers will travel to First Energy stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, to battle the Cleveland Browns on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Carolina Panthers find themselves continuously slumping as they lost their fourth straight game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their last outing by a 24-17 score with Cam Newton passing for 300 yards along with two touchdown passes on the night, yet threw four picks  in the contest en route to Carolina dropping yet another victory that they should have won.

On the other hand, the Cleveland Browns have won two of their last three games yet lost on the road to the Houston Texans in their last outing by a 29-13 score with Baker Mayfield also having a great night passing with 397 yards and a touchdown, however, threw three picks in the matchup with one of those being returned by Zach Cunningham for 38 yards for a touchdown.

Carolina Panthers 's Latest Performance :

As stated, Carolina has lost four straight games as their offense has certainly struggled to get going throughout this time. On the other hand, the defense for Carolina has also struggled as they are allowing teams to score a tad under 30 points per game during this time as well. Cam Newton certainly had a great night throwing the ball in their last match of, however, Newton threw four  interceptions in the matchup while Jameis Winston was solid once again in throwing for 246 yards along with two TD passes for Tampa Bay in the win.

The rushing game for Carolina put up 168 yards for the game with Christian McCaffrey rushing for 106 yards on 10 carries while Curtis Samuel led the receiving corps with six catches for 88 yards in the loss for the Panthers. Newton was also sacked four times in this matchup while the Carolina Panthers also racked up four sacks on Winston during the contest as well. The Panthers also allowed the Buccaneers offense to go to 3-5 inside the red zone for the game while the home team also had 71  return yards.

Carolina has definitely lost their way at a critical point in the season. It is for this reason that they will look to bring the focus in this match up as they desperately need a win in which to gain some confidence moving forward. Unfortunately, Cam Newton is questionable with a shoulder injury for this matchup and it is uncertain to suit up.

Cleveland Browns's Latest Performance :

The offense for Cleveland averaged 30 points per game during their two-game winning streak prior to meeting up with the Houston Texans last weekend. When all was said and done, the Browns put up 13 points on the night while Baker Mayfield essentially sealed a loss for Cleveland as he threw three  interceptions alongside 397 yards passing. Nick Chubb had 31 yards on nine carries for a Cleveland rushing attack which only had 31 yards on the night while Jarvis Landry and Antonio Callaway led the receiving corps with a combined 187 yards receiving on the night as the Browns went 2-2 inside the red zone while having a hundred and two return yards on the day.

On the defensive end, Cleveland allowed 187 yards on the ground to the Houston Texans as Lamar Miller led the team with 103 yards on 19 carries. DeShaun Watson threw for 232 yards along with a touchdown pass while DeAndre Hopkins led the team with 91 receiving yards on seven catches. Cleveland will certainly want to get back to its play during their prior two game winning streak versus the Carolina Panthers as they are fully aware that they will be facing off  against a dangerous team that will desperately be looking for a much-needed win after a terrible patch of play, lately.

How Carolina Panthers & Cleveland Browns Matchup.

Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:

Carolina is 5-7 ATS while the OU is  7 – 5

Cleveland is 7 – 5 ATS while the OU is  6 -6

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

Whether or not Cam Newton suits up or not, this will be an important matchup for the Carolina Panthers as they will be looking to go over .500 for the season after a rough stretch of games lately. Nonetheless, the team will certainly be looking to get their rushing game revved up early and often versus a Cleveland team that has had problems all year defending the run, as was evident in last week’s loss versus the Houston Texans. In all, expect this to be a very competitive matchup that will likely be a low-scoring affair throughout as the Panthers will be looking to get their offense started, once again, by providing the Browns a heavy dose of their running game while the Browns will also look to re-establish themselves on the ground while utilizing Mayfield in which to create opportunities within the passing game.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Carolina Panthers - 1

My reason for the pick :

I will pick the Panthers in this matchup due to the fact that I happen to believe their defense will step up in which to neutralize Cleveland’s rushing attack while also pressuring Mayfield just enough in the backfield in which to create some turnovers. With that being the case, look for the Browns to also come out in this matchup with some fire as they, despite their last loss, come into this game winners of two of the last three games, overall. In all, expect the Panthers to sneak out a slim victory in this matchup due to their ability to remain consistent in running the ball while allowing their defense to neutralize an inconsistent Browns offense.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 47

My reason for the prediction :

I will pick the under in this matchup in that you have to struggling offenses that will be going up against a defense in Carolina that continues to be very dangerous and aggressive, in its own right. On the other hand, the Browns defense have struggled in 2018 yet had begun to play much better in their last 3 games. Also, consider that Newton may be a no go for the contest, which means that the Panthers will certainly see a noticeable drop off in total offensive production. Nonetheless, I happen to believe that the defense will step up as the visitors will have a better all-around game and will somehow pull out a victory while ensuring that the under is indeed the strong play.

Betting trends for Carolina Panthers :

  • Panthers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Panthers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in Week 14.
Panthers are 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.

Betting trends for Cleveland Browns:

  • Over is 5-1 in Browns last 6 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
Browns are 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game.
Browns are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
