Jacksonville Jaguars vs Tennessee Titans
The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to Nissan stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, to battle the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night at 8:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars halted a long and damaging 7 game losing streak by picking up a win over the Indianapolis Colts by a 6-0 score in their last outing as two Josh Lambo field goals was the difference in the game as both teams combined for a tad over 400 total yards for the game while Cody Kessler threw for 150 yards for the Jaguars as he went 18-24 for the game.
On the other hand, the Tennessee Titans also halted a two-game losing streak by picking up a win at home over the New York Jets by a 26-22 score as the Titans outscored the Jets 20 – 6 in the second half while rallying from a 22 – 13 deficit thanks to two Ryan Succop field goals along with a touchdown pass by Marcus Mariota to seal the victory for the Titans in the end. The Jaguars have covered the spread in only one of the last six meetings amongst these teams. On the other hand, in their last meeting the Titans were able to pick up a 9-6 home win over the Jaguars on September 23rd as Ryan Succup and Josh Lambo traded field goals throughout the game yet Succup would have the last laugh as he sealed the victory with a 28 yard field goal to seal the victory.
Jacksonville Jaguars's Latest Performance :
The Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves last place in the AFC South division due to a 7 game losing streak. Fortunately for the Jaguars, they were able to come out of their losing skid in their last outing versus the Indianapolis Colts at home as they picked up the 6-0 win thanks to two Josh Lambo field goals along with a defense that allowed the Colts to put up only 265 total yards in the game. Andrew Luck passed for 248 yards for the game along with an interception while Cody Kessler threw for 150 yards for the Jaguars, as stated, in the much-needed victory.
Both rushing attacks struggled for the night as Jacksonville only rushed for 79 yards led by Carlos Hyde who rushed for 38 yards on 13 rushes while running back TJ Yeldon led the receiving corps with 49 yards on the day on seven receptions. The defense continues to remain relatively solid on the year however the offense for Jacksonville continues to stink it up on the field with every week that passes. In fact, the Jaguars are averaging only 15 points per game during their last seven games. During this time, the defense is currently allowing 14 points per game in their last five outings, overall. Nonetheless, the Jaguars will look to translate the momentum from their last win into a string of victories, moving forward, as they certainly will need to win consistently if they are to somehow make a late run for the playoffs
Tennessee Titans 's Latest Performance :
Standing at 6-6 on the year, Tennessee has an all-important contest on Thursday night versus the Jacksonville Jaguars as they seek to increase their position within the AFC South division as a win will propel them to the second-place slot, altogether. In all, the Titans are winners of three of their last five games, overall, with the last win coming over the New York Jets at home last weekend as Marcus Mariota threw for 282 yards along with two touchdowns and a pick in the match up as his favorite Target was Taywon Taylor, who led their receiving corps 104 yards on the day on only three receptions.
The rushing attack for the Titans put on 130 yards for the game and were led by Mariota with four rushes for 43 yards as Tennessee racked up over 400 yards for the game. On the defensive end, the Titans allowed the the Jets to put up 156 yards on the ground while being led by Isaiah Crowell with 98 yards 21 rushing attempts. Josh McCown also struggled under center for the Jets in place of Sam Darnold, as he threw for 128 yards along with an interception in the loss for the Jets.
In all, the Titans will look to build off of their last win in which to sweep the season series versus the Jaguars on the road in this week’s matchup. It will be interesting to see if these struggling offenses can somehow put up more points on the scoreboard in this contest on Thursday night.
How Jacksonville Jaguars & Tennessee Titans Matchup.
Vegas Odds, Offshore Odds, & Odds ATS:
Jacksonville is 4 – 6 – 2 ATS while the OU is 5 – 7
Tennessee is 6-6 ATS while the OU is 5 – 7
In-Depth Analysis of each team:
This will certainly be an interesting contest as the Titans were able to sneak out a three-point win in there last outing at home earlier in the season. Also, combine this with the fact that both teams picked up much-needed wins in their outings last weekend, expect for them both to come into this matchup with a huge amount of focus and intensity in which to keep their confidence and momentum flowing. Mariotta is questionable with a hand injury in this matchup, which will certainly affect the offensive production for Tennessee.
Against The Spread Selection: Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars + 4.5
My reason for the pick :
With Mariota questionable with a hand injury, I will back be home team in the Jaguars in this matchup as they are coming into this contest after halting an extended losing streak. Furthermore, I happen to believe that the Jaguars will play solidly on the defensive end versus a possibly short-handed Tennessee Titans team en route to picking up a victory while quite possibly winning outright. In all, look for Tennessee to stink up the field once again on Sunday as the Jaguars will avenge an earlier loss to the Titans with a victory.
Totals Selection: Pick: Under 37.5
My reason for the prediction :
The under was certainly the play the last time these two teams met while it has also been to play in the last 4 home games for Jacksonville, overall. Furthermore, the under has been the result in four of the last six road games for the Tennessee Titans, which makes me conclude that it will certainly be the strong pick this matchup as well versus two shaky offenses matching up with two solid defenses.
