Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Atlanta Falcons vs Green Bay Packers
The Gren Bay Packers return home to Lambeau Field for their 2nd consecutive home game as they will welcome in the Atlanta Falcons in an NFC clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM. The Packers will look to survive the rest of the season after firing their head coach while the Falcons have lost 4 straight games.
Atlanta Falcons's Latest Performance :
The Atlanta Falcons have gone from a Super Bowl contender to a bottom 5 team in the NFC in the span of 2 years and things aren’t looking good for Matt Ryan and company. The Falcons extended their losing streak to 4 games after they dropped a recent home matchup with the Baltimore Ravens 26-16. QB Matt Ryan has looked anything but elite over the recent weeks as he was held to only 131 yards and a TD last weekend. Despite Ryan having a few rough weeks he still sits towards the top of the league in most statistical categories as he has thrown for 3814 yards, 25 TDs, and 5 interceptions. The ground game has been nonexistent for the Falcons this season and it was no different against the Ravens as Ito Smith led the way with 22 yards on 7 carries while Tevin Coleman ran for 8 yards on 6 carries. Tevin Coleman has been the featured back this season due to Devonta Freeman being sidelined but he has only rushed for 514 yards and 2 TDs in 10 starts. The WRs for the Falcons are talented but they were kept in check against the Ravens especially star Julio Jones who only gained 18 yards on 2 catches. The defense has been a major question mark for the Falcons this season as they have been destroyed by injuries. LB Deion Jones was back against the Ravens and he made his presence felt as he racked up a team-high 15 tackles and recorded a sack.
Green Bay Packers's Latest Performance :
The Green Bay Packers are looking to flip the page after firing their longtime coach Mike McCarthy as they still are a longshot to make the postseason. The Packers lost their latest game at home against one of the worst teams in the NFL as the Arizona Cardinals came out victorious. QB Aaron Rodgers threw over 50 passes in this game but he was only able to connect on 31 of them for a total of 233 yards and a TD. Rodgers isn’t having a bad year statistically as he has thrown for 3504 yards, 21 TDs, and only 1 interception but it still hasn’t been enough to win games. The Packers offense has looked more balance this year with RB Aaron Jones but he was unable to get much going last weekend against the Cardinals as he gained 36 yards on 11 carries while scoring 1 time. Jones is putting together a nice year as a complement to Aaron Rodgers as the 24-year-old has gained 642 yards and 7 TDs on the season. The top target for Aaron Rodgers has been Davante Adams and reasonably so as he gained 93 yards and a TD on 8 catches. Adams is having one of the best years out of any WR in the NFL as he has caught 85 passes for 1115 yards and 11 TDs. The defense has been depleted by injuries and they were unable to keep a terrible Cardinal offense in check. DB Ibraheim Campbell led the way with 8 tackles while Josh Jones and Dean Lowry recorded a sack.

Against The Spread Selection: Green Bay Packers -6
My reason for the pick :
Both teams have not met expectations in 2018 but the Packers have flipped a page and should play with more intensity as they changed coaches. The Packers offense has not looked like an Aaron Rodgers led offense but they will go against one of the worst defenses in the NFL in the Atlanta Falcons. Offense Coordinator and now Interm Head Coach John Philbin will have a game plan as he now can finally take control of his offense. Aaron Rodgers should play with a purpose as he has been outspoken about the firing of McCarthy. I expect the Packers defense to get enough stops against the Falcons offense which will lead to a comfortable win.
