Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Minnesota Vikings vs Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks return home to CenturyLink Field for their 2nd consecutive home game as they will welcome in the Minnesota Vikings in an NFC clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 8:15 PM. Both teams are fighting for the two Wild Card spots and they both sit inside the playoff picture if the season were to end today.
Minnesota Vikings's Latest Performance :
The Minnesota Vikings have not met expectations this season as we thought they would run away with the division but despite their average outings they still find themselves in the playoff hunt. The Vikings offense was unable to get much going last weekend on the road against the New England Patriots as they were held to 10 points. QB Kirk Cousins was unable to get much generated for the high-powered offense as he only threw for 201 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. Cousins has been a difference for this offense this year as he has thrown for 3490 yards, 23 TDs, and 9 interceptions which proves that the team goes as he plays. The Vikings have tried to integrate more of a ground game into their gameplan and reasonably so as 2nd year RB Dalvin Cook has been explosive, Cook rushed for 84 yards on 9 carries against New England. Latavius Murray is the leading rusher for the Vikings as he has rushed for 466 yards and 5 TDs but he was only held to 11 yards on 4 carries last weekend. The WRs make the Vikings one of the most dangerous offenses in football as Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are two of the best in the league. Thielen was the lone Viking to score which extends his season total to 9 TDs. The defense for the Vikings kept them in it in the 1st half but they allowed Tom Brady to get loose in the 2nd part of the game. LB Eric Kendricks had a huge outing for the Vikings as he recorded 16 tackles and an interception.
Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :
The Seattle Seahawks have rattled off 3 straight wins which has put them in a prime position to make the postseason as a Wild Card team. The Seahawks are coming off an impressive win at home against the San Francisco 49ers as they put both sides of the ball together in a 43-16 outing. QB Russell Wilson only attempted 17 passes but he completed 11 of them for a total of 185 yards and 4 TDs which gives the 30-year-old 29 passing TDs compared to only 5 interceptions in 2018. The ground game is what makes the Seahawks so dangerous this season and they proved that against the 49ers. RB Chris Carson led the way with 69 yards on 13 carries while rookie RB Rashaad Penny gained 65 yards and a TD on 7 carries. Chris Carson left the game with a broken finger but he is probable to suit up against the Vikings which is a positive sign for this offense as he has rushed for 704 yards and 4 TDs this season. The Seahawks WRs have been shaky at times this season but Jaron Brown is coming off arguably the biggest game of his career as he caught 3 passes for 67 yards and 2 TDs against the 49ers. The Seahawks defense has improved as the season has gone on and this is another example of their improvement. LB Bobby Wagner had maybe the best performance of the season as he racked up 12 tackles as well as picked off a pass and brought it 98 yards for a TD.

My reason for the pick :
The Seattle Seahawks are rolling right now while the Minnesota Vikings have been inconsistent over the last few weeks which is why I am backing the home team in this matchup. Seattle has been known for their prime time games at home as they are one of the best in the league. Seattle has one of the best ground games in football right now which should cause havoc on the Vikings defense. If Minnesota decides to stack the box and leave the game in Russell Wilson’s hands even better as he has proven to be a winner in his tenure. The Vikings offense has been hit or miss this season and although the Seahawks have been suspect in the secondary I expect the pass rush to eat up a bad Vikings offensive line. Take Seattle at home.
