Pick, Prediction, & Preview:

Miami Dolphins vs Minnesota Vikings

The Miami Dolphins will travel to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to battle the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. These teams come into this matchup trending in different directions as the Miami Dolphins have won two straight games after picking up a 34-33 home win over the New England Patriots in their last time out as a 69-yard pass from Ryan Tannehill, his third of the night, to Kenyan Drake served to seal the victory in what was a very exciting game last weekend amongst these two squads.

On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings have lost three of their last four games along with two straight after they fell to the Seattle Seahawks on the road by a 21 – 7 score in their last outing as the Seahawks as the home team rushed for 214 yards in the matchup while pounding the Vikings in the fourth quarter by scoring 18 points en route to the much-needed victory.

Miami Dolphins's Latest Performance :

And while the Dolphins have struggled on both sides of the ball in 2018, their last outing versus the New England Patriots certainly gave them a bit of confidence and momentum in which to move forward with has Ryan Tannehill, who has struggled throughout the season, threw for three touchdown passes including the game-winner to Kenyan Drake for 69 yards over the New England Patriots. The rushing attack for Miami came alive as well in this outing as they rushed for a total of 189 yards as Frank Gore led the charge with 92 yards on 12 carries. Kenny Stills had eight receptions along with 135 receiving yards and a score to lead the receiving corps for the Dolphins.

Currently, the Dolphins are two games behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East Division standings and certainly needed a win versus their rival last weekend. In all, Miami must win their last three outings versus the Vikings, along with struggling teams in Jacksonville along with the Buffalo Bills to end the season in which to be considered for a wild-card spot.

Minnesota Vikings's Latest Performance :

The Minnesota Vikings cannot seem to catch a break at a critical time of season as they are losers of four of their last six games and two straight as their offense struggled, once again, versus the Seattle Seahawks on the road as the rushing attack obtained only 77 yards for the night with Dalvin Cook having 55 yards on 13 carries while Kirk Cousins through for 208 yards along with a touchdown pass to Cook, who also had 28 receiving yards on the night on five catches. Stefon Diggs led the receiving corps for Minnesota with 130 yards for the game as Cousins was sacked twice while the Vikings also fumbled the ball in the contest as well.

On the defensive end, Russell Wilson only was allowed to pass for 62 yards along with an interception, however, the rushing attack was all the Seahawks needed in which to pull out a victory in this contest as the Vikings rush unit allowed 214 yards to the home team as Chris Carson rushed for 90 yards on 22 carries along with a score. And while the defense for Minnesota remains a solid unit, in my opinion, their offense has certainly been disappointing as they have only been able to put up an average of 12 points during their current losing skid. Fortunately, they may indeed find some success versus a Miami defense that is ranked in the lower-tier of teams within the NFL as it relates to all major defensive categories while allowing 28 points to opponents in their last four games, total.

In-Depth Analysis of each team:

This game will be interesting in that Miami will be looking to extend the momentum gained from their last outing versus New England as they face a Minnesota team that has struggled left and right lately. On the other hand, the Vikings will look to end their offensive woes versus a Miami team that has been no stranger to allowing teams to score points in 2018. In all, I expect for this game to be a defensive-minded matchup to where both offenses will take a bit of time in which to get going; However, the action will certainly be exciting as both teams will be clawing in which to pick up an all-important victory.

Against The Spread Selection: Pick:Minnesota Vikings - 7

My reason for the pick :

I look for the Vikings, who are winners of four of their last six home games, to come out on top while also covering the spread in this matchup versus a Miami team that has struggled away from Hard Rock Stadium all season long as they are losers of four straight. Also, despite the offense for Miami being so inconsistent this season, look for them to make some plays in this matchup; However, the defense for the Vikings will certainly look to pressure him early in which to allow him to make mistakes in the pocket. In all, the home team will get back on the winning track in solid fashion as they will pull out a convincing victory over a inconsistent Miami squad on Sunday.

Totals Selection: Pick:  Under 44.5

My reason for the prediction :

I do not expect many points to be scored in this matchup due to the inconsistencies illustrated by each of the offenses for this contest. As stated, the Vikings are averaging a tad over 10 points per game in their last five outings while the Dolphins, despite the 33 points put up versus the New England Patriots, remain to be a very inconsistent squad on the offensive end as well. In all, expect the total to remain low and this contest has the game will certainly be one that is very competitive, primarily from a defensive standpoint.

Betting trends for Miami Dolphins:

  • Over is 4-0 in Dolphins last 4 games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
Under is 6-1 in Dolphins last 7 road games.
Over is 5-1 in Dolphins last 6 games after scoring more than 30 points in their previous game.

Betting trends for Minnesota Vikings:

  • Under is 7-1 in Vikings last 8 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Vikings are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Under is 5-1 in Vikings last 6 home games.
