Pick, Prediction, & Preview:
Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers will return home to Levi’s Stadium for their 2nd consecutive home game where they will take on the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC West clash, the opening kickoff is slated for 4:05 PM. The Seahawks are one of the hottest teams in football while San Francisco is fighting for the #1 overall pick.
Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :
The Seattle Seahawks have quietly put together one of the most impressive stretches in football as they have racked up 4 straight wins and put themselves in prime position to claim the top Wild Card spot. The Seahawks used a stingy defense and effective ground attack to gain some ground on the Minnesota Vikings in the standings as they beat them 21-7 on Monday Night Football. QB Russell Wilson didn’t have a big game to any standard as he only completed 10 of his 20 passes for a total of 72 yards while also being intercepted at the 1-yard line on a bonehead pass just before halftime. The one area that Wilson was able to make an impact was on the ground as he was able to pick up 61 yards on 7 rushes which made the defense key into the read option. RB Chris Carson has been the leader for this top rushing team and this outing was no different as he picked up 90 yards on 22 carries. Carson has a great chance to reach the 1000-yard mark on the season as he enters week 15 with 794 yards and 5 TDs. Russell Wilson was without his top WR Doug Baldwin in this matchup which left him with a young group. Tyler Lockett was the only Seahawk WR to record more than 1 catch as he recorded 5 for a total of 42 yards. The defense was what truly won the game for the Seahawks as they kept the Vikings off the scoreboard up until the final minute of the game. DB Trey Flowers had a big game with 8 tackles while all-star LB Bobby Wagner recorded a team-high 9 tackles and blocked an important FG in the 4th quarter.
San Francisco 49ers's Latest Performance :
The San Francisco 49ers are fighting for the 1st overall pick in the upcoming draft but they were able to record their 3rd win of the season last weekend by beating a playoff caliber team in the Denver Broncos. QB Nick Mullens has looked nothing like a 3rd string QB in his 5 starts and we saw another special game out of the youngster. Mullens was able to shred a really good Broncos defense for 332 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception which is his 2nd consecutive 300+ yard game. Mullens only has 5 starts in his career and although he has thrown 6 interceptions he has thrown for over 1479 yards and 9 TDs. The RB position has been a problem for the 49ers as the top 3 RBs have been sidelined with injuries. Matt Bredia is the top back as he has racked up 744 yards and 3 TDs and although he has not played a full game since November we should expect him this weekend. The undrafted free agent Jeff Wilson received the 1st start of his career against the Broncos where he ran for 90 yards on 23 carries. TE George Kittle has solidified himself as one of the top TEs this season and he did no different against the Broncos as he racked up 210 yards and a TD on 7 receptions. Kittle enters week 15 with as the only 49er with 1000+ yards as he has caught 69 passes for a total of 1103 yards and 4 TDs. The 49ers defense has shown flashes of what they can be moving forward as they have some young promising pieces. DB D.J. Reed led the way for the 49ers against the Broncos as he recorded a team-high 12 tackles while also racking up a sack.

My reason for the pick :
Sure the San Francisco 49ers looked good on both sides of the ball last weekend against the Broncos but they are running into a different monster this weekend as the Seattle Seahawks are rolling. Russell Wilson is an elite QB and I don’t see him replicating his performance from the Vikings game as we all know he is better than that. Something else we learned in last weeks game is that the Seahawks defense has potential to be elite and if they were able to stop an 80+ million dollar man last weekend I don’t see why they can’t do the same thing against a 3rd string QB. The Seahawks are still playing for a playoff spot and they will bring the heat in this game.
