Seattle Seahawks vs Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are set to host the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card Round as they will meet at AT&T Stadium, the opening kickoff is slated for 8:15 PM. Dallas is the 4th seed in the NFC after they won the NFC East while Seattle enters this game as the 5th seed after they finished 2nd in the NFC West.
These two teams met on 9/23 where Seattle won 24-13.
Seattle Seahawks's Latest Performance :
The Seattle Seahawks were supposed to be in a rebuilding stage after they missed the playoffs last season but Pete Carroll has this team playing some inspired football with the young stars they have as they competed with the best of teams this season. The Seahawks will enter the postseason on a high note after they won at home against the Arizona Cardinals 27-24. QB Russell Wilson doesn’t get nearly the amount of recognition he deserves as he has been one of the best game managers in football. Wilson didn’t produce his best outing against the Cardinals as he only threw for 152 yards, 1 TD, and 1 interception but he has had a good overall season as he enters the postseason with 3448 yards, 35 TDs, and 7 interceptions. The ground game is where the Seattle offense truly thrives as they have a three-headed monster in their backfield which is one of the top in the nation. RB Chris Carson is the lead back for the Seahawks and he continued on his good season with 122 yards and a TD last weekend which gives him a team-high 1151 yards and 9 TDs on the season. Joining Carson in the backfield is Mike Davis (514 yards and 4 TDs) and rookie RB Rashaad Penny (419 yards and 2 TDs). Wilson lacks some of the big time playmakers he once had but Tyler Lockett has continued to grow into an effective role for the Seahawks. Lockett had a solid outing against the Cardinals with 66 yards on 6 receptions which extends his season total to 965 yards and 10 TDs. The Seahawks defense doesn’t have the big names they once had but they are still one of the top units in the NFL. LB Bobby Wagner has been the leader for this team over the last few seasons and he had a big game to close out the season with a team-high 12 tackles while DT Jarran Reed contributed 2 sacks for the Seahawks.
Dallas Cowboys's Latest Performance :
The Dallas Cowboys return back to the playoffs after going 9-7 last season and finishing 2nd in the division but the buzz has turned around after they have played well during the last part of the season. The Cowboys were able to end the season with a win over the New York Giants 36-35 after they went for a 2-point conversion at the end of the game. QB Dak Prescott elected to play in this game despite it being meaningless and he played well as he threw for 387 yards and 4 TDs. Prescott has been a huge reason behind the Cowboys success as he has thrown for 3885 yards, 22 TDs, 8 interceptions, and 6 rushing TDs. Star RB Ezekiel Elliot elected to sit in this game which was ideal for the playoffs as the former Ohio State product has been banged up all season long. Elliot enters the postseason as one of the top RBs in football as he has run for 1434 yards and 6 TDs while also being a threat out of the backfield with 567 reception yards and 3 TDs. The Cowboys were forced to turn to backup RB Rod Smith against the Giants where he recorded his 1st TD of the season. Star WR Amari Cooper was not forced to do too much against the Giants as he only racked up 31 yards on 5 receptions but he will play a pivotal role in the postseason after a revitalization in Dallas. TE Blake Jarwin had a huge outing for the Cowboys as he led the team with 7 receptions for 119 yards and 3 TDs while WR Cole Beasley had 6 receptions for 94 yards and a TD. The defense has been a huge reason behind the Cowboys success as they are one of the top units in the nation. Rookie LB Leighton Vander Esch has come on strong for the Cowboys and he once again had a nice game against the Giants with a team-high 9 tackles while CB Chidobe Awuzie contributed the lone interception of the game.

Against The Spread Selection: Dallas Cowboys -2.5
My reason for the pick :
This should be a fun matchup as both teams have used late-season runs to get to the postseason but I will stick with the Dallas Cowboys at home in this matchup as they have been money at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys have found a revitalization in their offense ever since the Amari Cooper trade as teams have been forced to pay more attention to the aerial game rather than Ezekiel Elliot on the ground. Elliot is the NFL leading rusher this season and I think he continues his success against the Seahawks at home as the offensive line is finally starting to get healthy. The Seahawks are equally as good on the ground as Chris Carson has become a star as of recent but I think the Cowboys LBs have enough speed and talent to stuff the holes and force Seattle to stick to the air where the Cowboys will force pressure.
Betting trends for Seattle Seahawks:
- Seattle is 6-6 ATS in playoff games since 2012.
Betting trends for Dallas Cowboys:
- Dallas is 6-3 ATS after a win this season.
